Mitch Golub
President, Cars.com
As President of Cars.com, Mitch Golub is responsible for the daily operations that have transformed the company into a leading online automotive destination. Mitch's primary focus continues to be on the development of Cars.com's strategic direction, ensuring the company's sales, finance, marketing, product development, media and business development areas are all closely aligned with the company's vision and positioned for sustainable growth.
Mitch joined Cars.com in July 1997 as the organization's first employee after a successful 21-year career with the Tribune Co. While with Tribune, he leveraged his extensive background in editorial management to lead the company's new business initiatives, including the creation and management of start-ups in print, broadcast and online. Mitch also held a leadership role in Tribune's emerging New Media Group, where key accomplishments included the launch of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel website and the creation of Digital City, in partnership with America Online. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Tribune Co.'s first Values Award, presented in appreciation of business achievements demonstrating creativity and entrepreneurialism.
As a result of his expertise and pioneer status, Mitch has participated in a variety of industry panels, workshops and speaking engagements. He has been a regular featured speaker at Auto Remarketing's annual iRemarketing Summit, the Forrester Automotive Summit and J.D. Powers Roundtable. Additionally, he provides frequent commentary and analysis to publications such as Automotive News, Auto Remarketing and NADA's Auto Exec, and has addressed consumer interests in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
Alex Vetter
Senior Vice President, Sales
Alex Vetter is Senior Vice President of Sales for Cars.com. As one of the original members of the Cars.com team, he has helped steer the company’s growth strategy from concept into a multi-faceted sales and distribution model that spans all aspects of internet marketing, including local, mobile and social media.
Through Vetter’s leadership, Cars.com has grown to over 900 employees and 500 sales executives that serve every local market in the United States. He has operated in nearly every capacity at Cars.com, spanning product development, customer service, training, operations and currently oversees all revenue generating activities for the local online retailer. Through his work, Alex has helped establish a vibrant local marketplace for cars, enabling e-commerce activities with over 18,000 retailers who connect with site users on a daily basis.
Vetter received his bachelor's degree from Providence College, where he was a four-year Division I athlete. In 2007, Vetter was named one of the 40 under 40 executives by Crain’s Chicago business. Alex currently resides in Chicago, is married and has two children.
William Swislow
Senior Vice President, Product & Chief Information Officer
In his role as Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Information Officer, William Swislow oversees all aspects of the Cars.com product and technology teams. He has guided the site's development since its inception in 1997.
Before joining Cars.com, Swislow held several roles within the Chicago Tribune, including interactive marketplaces editor. During his tenure, Swislow managed the launch of the company's first editorial website. Prior to his time with Tribune, he served as managing editor of the Society of Professional Journalists' Quill Magazine and of four alternative weeklies in New England. Swislow also spent two years as an editor at Dow Jones News Service.
Swislow received his Bachelor's Degree in Government from Harvard University and a Master's Degree in Journalism from Columbia University. In addition to his role at Cars.com, he operates the cultural website interestingideas.com.
Bob Gallagher
Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
As Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Bob Gallagher is responsible for the overall financial management at Classified Ventures, including the company’s financial reporting. He also oversees multiple corporate functions including Controller, Treasury, long-range planning and financial systems, as well as other strategic initiatives.
In addition to his CFO duties, Gallagher serves as a member of the Senior Management Team at Cars.com and oversees the Operations function, a 170-person team that has responsibility for fulfillment, customer service, account management, and sales operations. Gallagher also oversees the Corporate Technology team at Classified Ventures with responsibility for network operations, data center, storage, telephony, and help desk. He also leads enterprise-wide efforts to continuously improve productivity and the competitiveness of the company’s business support functions.
Gallagher joined Classified Ventures in 2005. In addition to a public accounting background, Gallagher has over 20 years of experience in various financial leadership roles with Ameritech, Andersen Consulting, and other internet companies.
Gallagher is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accountancy and a Master of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University. He also currently serves as a board member of NIU’s Alumni Association.
He and his wife, Christy, reside in Bolingbrook, IL with their three children.
Linda Bartman
Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer
As Chief Marketing Officer, Linda leads business to business and consumer marketing and is responsible for developing and executing the marketing strategy to drive online advertising sales to automotive manufacturers and local dealers.
Prior to Cars.com, Linda was the Director, Marketing Communications & Brand, with BP US Fuels Value Chain. In Linda’s role at BP, she was responsible for managing the brand for the Fuels business in the U.S. in addition to strategic development and execution of marketing communication strategies both through the consumer channels and the B2B distributor network. Linda led the marketing communication and public relations strategy for the U.S. Fuels business in response to the Gulf of Mexico crisis, developing the messaging platform of “Locally owned and locally operated” whereby local distributors were able to educate the public on their locally owned status in the wake of the situation. Linda joined BP in 2005.
Prior to BP, Linda led a series of marketing and brand initiatives in both the B2B/B2C channels in global businesses such as GE and AAR. Linda began her career with Ameritech New Media focusing on Public Affairs and negotiating new franchise agreements for a start-up business.
Linda’s specialty is brand management and driving integrated 360 marketing planning and delivery. With experience in managing complex distribution channels, her focus has been working on ways to bring brands to life through a seamless marketing approach that builds brand strength and consistency.
Greg McGivney
General Manager and Vice President, Strategy and Business Development
As General Manager and Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, Greg McGivney maintains responsibility for a number of areas critical to Cars.com's success, which include defining the strategy of the organization, leading business development efforts, maintaining partnerships and alliances, and exploring new revenue opportunities. McGivney also manages Cars.com’s Santa Monica office.
McGivney joined Cars.com in 2003 after leaving his role as chief operating officer of By-Products Interactive, a $50 million agriculture brokerage and publishing company. Prior to his role with By-Products, McGivney also led teams as a manager in the strategy consulting practice with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and also held strategy and corporate finance positions at Waste Management.
McGivney is a graduate of Marquette University and received his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
