Great Car After 118,000 Miles

"My 8 year old red CL-S still looks sleek and fast. The styling has always been understated with no gimmicks, and will probably not look out-of-date 10 years from now. On the highway it cruises at 70 at 1900 rpm. I've twice measured 400+ miles on a tank (31 mpg). Its fast, a blast to drive in the mountains, and very comfortable - the seats are fantastic. Great Bose sound system too. The car has been absolutely trouble free - except for the well known transmission issues. Acura first doubled the transmission warranty to 100,000 miles, and did a recall to improve lubrication flow. When my car started to have mild transmission symptoms, Acura replaced the transmission at 105,000 miles with no argument, even though the warranty had expired. In 24 years my wife and I have had 2 Hondas and 2 Acuras. We kept each of them for at least 8 years and 110,000 miles. Prior to that I had a rapid succession of BMW, Porsche and Audis - none were kept for much over 3 years. Very likely we'll be buying a Honda Fit or Civic next."

"Wonderful car to own, highly recommended! I purchased the CL Type-S two years ago and have mostly great things to say about it. I also owned the previous body style CL 3.0. The only negatives are the blind spot from the driver's seat and the transmission. I had the recall taken care of but still had some issues. Otherwise, the features you get for the money are unbelievable! This car is fast and looks great. The 17 inch rims are very nice. The sound system is great and the car is very comfortable. There is alot of trunk space for storage but the backseat is a little cramped. For the value, this car beats out BMW and other luxury lines by a land slide!!"

"I bought my Acura new and I still love it. There is only one problem with it. The front driver's side mirror and the car frame on that side seem to meet to provide a big blind spot. I have to move my whole body to see cars when they want to turn and I want to go striaght at a stop sign. I have had a couple of near misses. There are other areas that are also badly designed so as to prevent good vision. Other than that this is a great car."

"The Acura CL type-S is the best car i bought it new and have not had one problem at all not a squeek nor a clung or anything i just change the oil and the brakes once and mine is a 2001 and to have to change the brakes only once is something nice. the Acura drives so so so so smooth and it is great looking and it is pretty darn fast i think that a car like this is worth a lot more than it's said it is i believe that a 2001 with low miles is worth about 13,000 and i kid you not it's worth it. once you drive the car you will fall in love automatically."

"The CL Type-S is by far the best bang for the buck in it's class! It offers all the optional, upgradable features of the BMW 3 series or the Mercedes CLK as standard equipment. It has a very responsive 260 HP VTEC engine, yet gets great gas mileage. The interior of the beige/parchment looks as nice as a Lexus or Benz, at a fraction of the price. You can't go wrong with this car or it's value, if you're in the market for a luxury sports coupe."

"Best car I've ever owned, Rides smooth, very quick powerful reliable engine, Extra Comfortable. Averages around 25-26 mpg, which is pretty good considering I do a fair amount of city driving. I definitely recommend this car to anyone. I will probably never buy a car again unless it is an acura, this car sold me."

"High performance engine makes this a responsive car, fun to drive with great pickup, steering and braking. Acura is one of the most reliable cars, great value for the money. Unlike more luxury cars, they also planned for conveniences inside like compartments for cell phone or iPod, built in notepad/pen, etc. I would definitely recommend this car and would buy another Acura in the future."

"Pros: 260 hp, HID lights, dual power and heated leather seats (with driver memory) auto dimming mirror, Bose sound system, stability control, moonroof ect... No other vehicle comes close to giving you all those features anywhere near it's price. The reliabilty has been outstanding and people stare everywhere I go. The Type S is well worth the extra money. Cons: Well known transmission problems. I have had the recall done and will keep my fingers crossed. Also, the paint does seem to chip easily. Overall, it is an outstanding car. It's power, features, styling, and reliability are top notch and I am now an Acura customer for life."
