Consumer Reviews
"After test driving Lexus ES, BMW 5 series and the Infinity M, I decided that the TL was the best way to go. This car drives unbelievable in dry and rainy pavement. The stereo system is one of the best and every time I take it to the car wash I get nothing but compliments. I highly recommend this vehicle."

"The exterior design is not for everyone, but just about everything else is. Great drive, the tech package is fantastic, and its also a usable car for people with kids (I have 2 under age 5)."

"Recently purchased a 2009 Acura TL AWD w/tech package. I decided to buy this car only after comparing it to the BMW 530xi, E300 Class Merc AWD and an Audi A6 AWD. I compared one Japanese sport sedan to 3 European AWD sport sedans. They all have 3.0 liter engines, all are 6 cylinder cars except the Audi (5) and all are AWD vehicles. I chose the Acura over the others because it offered the most for my money. It has more horses then the others, it has more optional equipment given as standard and has plenty of torque. I also believe the AWD system is superior to the others. The Acura's sound system is also superior to anything else being offered by the European sedans. The Acura is not the fastest but for the United States, it's fast enough. The suspension system is tight and feels like a European system. The finish easily is as good if not better then the European cars. It looks pretty cool too. What more could I want? A star? A horse collar? Not this year. Kudos to Acura for getting the TL right."

"Have not bought it but looking to replace a 2004 RL. Wife has a 2007 MDX and have owned nothing but Acura's for the last 10 years. Just took the wife's MDX in for service and looked at the showroom models. My dealer is painting the entire grill assembly to match the body color on some showroom and loaner cars. WOW! It makes those TL's look like a custom car. A great solution for those that do not like the odd shape and overuse of chrome from the factory."

"I have owned Honda's and Acura's since 1992. My latest was the 2004 Acura TL and after five years and 128,000 miles it was time for a new one. When I first saw the 2009 body style I was very disappointed. So disappointed that for the first time I decided to look at BMW and Infiniti as well. I test drove a 2009 335xi, 535xi, and Infiniti G37 Sedan. The 335xi was the best handling car I have EVER driven. I can see why enthusisasts are attached to this car. But it's too small for me. The 535xi was nice but not as fun as the 335. The Infiniti was very fast but the 7-speed was busy as reviewers have posted. All three cars lacked the same thing that the TL has. A oomfortable, modern, technologically rich interior. The BMWs' interiors were archaic compared to my 2004, let alone the 2009. The Infiniti's interior was bland and small. The radio was not as good as advertised. The 2009 TL is not as fun to drive as the 335 and is not as fast as the other three cars, however the Acura TL offers the best value and amenities for someone that drives 25,000 miles/year and enjoys both the driving experience and interior entertainment. I am very pleased with my purchase and now love the new body style. The wheels on the SH-AWD make it look 100 times better than the base model and the car looks very modern compared to the BMW's and Infiniti."

"Purchased TL SH-AWD w/o Tech Pkg over 09 Audi A4, Infiniti G37, MB C-Class and Lexus IS350. Prior 2 cars were 03 BMW M3, 06 Audi S4. The new TL SH-AWD is hands down the best bang for the buck for "drivers". Plus you get legendry Honda durability, technology and residual value. The Acura actually takes on the BMW 5-Series (not 3), Audi A6 (not 4) and MB E-Class (not C) -- check the specs and test drive. Fit and finish is immaculate, but best of all it is a blast to drive. It is no Audi S4 - but who cares, becuase the overall package is far superior. The the Acura AWD technology is mind blowing. BTW - first scheduled maintenance is at 100K miles. Well done Honda."

"Acura did the best four doors sport car ever, I was speech less when I drove this car. The GPS is incredible and the engine is perfect and quiet."

"I looked at the TL in 2004 but with a family of 4 it was a no-go because of the room in the back seats. I thought the new 2009 model was fnally adequate so I bought the car. I just got the base 2 wheel drive without the tech package for a price well below the price I expected to pay. It may be buying on Jan 2, 2009 but way below sticker and nearly at invoice. No other car can match that with the performance. I test drove the Accord V6 and it was just plain boring and didn't evoke any emotions in me. I am coming from 2 SUVs so this car handles like a dream to me. People may not like the new grill but after parking next to an older TL (not sure of the age), it looked like a grandpa's car to me. This car looks modern. All my friends like the look. No nay-sayers yet. Anyways, my only gripes are no fold-down back seats (which I knew), big wide tires (going to cost me to replace), and the shifter doesn't have an indicator next to it (it does on the control panel in front though). Maybe I'm missing something on that last one. Backing up is tricky as there are some blind spots and the seats will not be for everyone. I love the headlights. There may be other cars which are faster, better handling (check the SHAWD model), nicer interior, better stereo (get Tech package if you must but the base stereo is pretty darn good), but for this price??? Forget it. Driving so far has averaged right around 20 for local and highway combined. Waiting for that first long trip to see what it can really do. By the way, I'm no speed demon but laugh when the camrys, accords, SUVs, etc get on my tail or try to pass. The power is instant and throws you back into the seat. My kids keep telling me to stop it."

"After driving in an SUV for the last 15 years, it was time to go back to a sedan. My search started with 10 choices ranging from the Chevy Malibu to BMW's 3 series. As I visited each dealer I quickly narrowed down my final choices based on price, styling and driving enjoyment. While I admit to being influenced by the styling of the car, I compared each vehicle with the same features and wanting to keep the 36 month l5k/year lease with $0 money down to $ 500/mo. First up was the CTS w/AWD, while I love the styling and even with its $10k rebates, I could not get the price under my limit. Next was BMW's 328xi, while strickly being sold by its reputation and since I'm 6'1" and 230 lbs. I knew comfort wise this was not the car for me. Next was Audi's redesigned A4, with its reputation, its styling had something to be desired and its price got itself eliminated quickly from my list. I then took a look at VW's new CC w/FWD. Very nice looking car, a little expensive but I was gun shy about a first year car. The same goes for the redesigned Maxima w/ sports pkg. Beautiful car and very expensive, I just didin't want to be the cars first ginnie pig. The same went for the Mercedes 300C, a little stiff for taste and pricey. I took a glance at the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Saturn Aura and knew right away I'd be basing my choice strictly on cost and would be unhappy in no time and unless the $ 100/mo. was important I just could be satisfied and settling on any of those cars. I finally narrowed my choice to the G35x and the Acura TL. The '08 G35x was being offered since they were holding back the '09's since the dealers had excess inventory. The styling has been somewhat played out and the interior was a little snug but the car handled great. The final price was about $25/mo less then the '09 TL I went with. This is the first Japanese car I've driven since my Datsun 300z. For the money the car offeres everything one would want in a sports/luxury car. The tech package has a lot to offer but at $ 3500 extra I couldn't justify it. Even my kids were impressed by the look of the car and the way it handles. I'm sure I'll be happy for the next 36 months with my decision."

"I leased a TL a month ago. The exterior styling is a bit weird. The interior is very comfortable. After 6 Infinities, including 2 G35s, I was ready for more driver comfort and a little less interior hardness. The TL does that. Handling/steering is different, but not deficient from the G35. I don't need or have a place to do 0 to 60 in 5 seconds and the TL holds it's own in the acceleration dept. I'm a musician and appreciate the superb sound system! By the time my lease is up, I should have the computer/nav system figured out. It's a $40,000 gadget on 4 wheels. So far, I like the TL better than my '07 G35. We're still in the honeymoon period."
