Vehicle Overview

The Aston Martin DB9 comes in coupe and convertible (Volante) forms and is powered by a 6.0-liter V-12 engine that generates 510 horsepower. Competitors include the Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari California.

New for 2013
The DB9 gets a makeover for the 2013 model year with a more powerful 6.0-liter V-12 engine that’s now rated at 510 hp and 457 pounds-feet of torque, up from last year’s 470 hp and 443 pounds-feet of torque. All DB9s now come standard with carbon-ceramic brakes, and the car sees subtle exterior and interior design revisions.

ExteriorA long aluminum hood sits above a familiar Aston Martin grille, which has a bright finish. There are side strakes on the front quarter panels. The DB9’s rear haunches are wide and curvaceous, and its profile features a prominent decklid spoiler. “Swan wing” doors rise at a 12-degree angle for easier access. Exterior features include:

  • Standard 20-inch wheels
  • Bi-xenon headlamps with LED accent lighting
  • Aluminum and lightweight composite body panels
  • Volante’s fabric top folds underneath a hard tonneau cover that sits flush with the bodywork
  • Sensors can detect a potential rollover and deploy roll bars (convertible)
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Optional carbon fiber accent package

InteriorThe DB9 offers standard 2+2 seating and a variety of available trims like mahogany, piano black, Tamo ash or bamboo. Glass buttons offer a unique design cue. The tachometer dial runs counterclockwise. Interior features include:

  • Power-adjustable leather seats
  • Heated front sport seats
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Six-CD stereo with MP3 jack and USB port
  • Available Bang & Olufsen stereo
  • Available leather headliner
  • Available carbon fiber trim package

Under the HoodThe DB9’s 6.0-liter V-12 produces 510 hp and 457 pounds-feet of torque. Aston Martin says the DB9 can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds. Mechanical features include:

  • Six-speed automatic transmission
  • Top speed of 183 mph
  • Rear-mounted gearbox for better weight distribution
  • Full undertray reduces lift and drag
  • Carbon-ceramic brake system
  • Three-mode adaptive suspension

SafetySafety features include:

  • All-disc antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist
