Vehicle Overview

The five-seat A4 received prominent styling updates for 2013, with the majority of changes done to the front end. The A4 is offered only as a sedan; the former Avant wagon was replaced last year by the Allroad wagon, which is based on the A4 and covered separately in the Cars.com Research section. Audi also offers a performance version of the sedan dubbed S4, also covered separately.

The A4, available with front- or all-wheel drive, competes with the BMW 3 Series, Cadillac ATS and Mercedes-Benz C-Class and is available in Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige price levels.
New for 2014
Horsepower on the standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine increases to 220 from 211. In a shuffling of standard and optional features, the Convenience Package (Bluetooth, Homelink garage door opener, Audi music interface and driver information system) is now standard on the base Premium model. A new S Line Style Package for the Premium includes xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights, LED running lights and taillights, automatic headlight leveling and other exterior enhancements.

    Best Audi I've ever owned

    I've read other review and am a bit flummoxed by some of the comments. Great workmanship, excellent fit and finish, and plenty of power. While I agree previous generations of Audis have been less that reliable (I've owned 7 over the decades), I've owned my 2014 A4 quattro since new and how have over 105k miles on the clock. I've not experienced any of the problems listed by other folks. I did purchase the extended maintenance plan for $1200 when I bought the car and had it serviced religiously by the dealer at no additional cost (with free loaner car) until 75K miles. Since then I found an independent mechanic that specializes on German cars that does great work at a reasonable price. The car has long been paid off and, with the crazy prices new and used cars are going for at the moment, I have no plan to purchase a new model.

    Constant Breakdowns

    Did all the recommended maintenance, and yet the breakdowns are increasing to about every 2-3 months. The fuel pump alone has been replaced 5 times in a 13 month period. 5 TIMES. I am now friends with the neighborhood tow guy (he had no idea who I was when I drove Japanese cars) and I have an account at Enterprise Rent-a-Car. It is so bad that I am considering voluntary repossession with my bank. It's a fun, stylish ride but should be used more as a side car than your daily driver.

    Audi_ Machine

    It is a great car to drive, great performance but very expensive repairs, anything outside the warranty costs 4 figures. Also not all Audi dealers are honest. I spent this year $3k for repairs but could have gotten it done for less than $2k had I shopped with other Audi dealers.

    Best car I’ve ever owned

    I love all the extras - Sirius, LoJack, moon roof, rear camera. The ride is smooth, the leather seats are comfortable, plenty of leg room.

    Incredibly expensive to own.

    This car had many breakdowns and expensive to repair problems. Every trip to the dealer, even for an oil change, was expensive. One door lock broke, one window track broke letting the window fall down inside the door, during a rain storm. Dollars, dollars, dollars on repairs. I traded it for another brand which has given no problems to date.

    Nicest car I have ever owned.

    This is an amazing performance car. The makers seemed to have thought of everything. The only drawback is that it required added motor oil for about every 500 miles or so.

    Nice car

    I love my Audi a4 sline. Pretty fast car and fun to drive. Only downside...no CarPlay!! Beautiful exterior, decent interior and pretty good on gas.
