"We bought this car new in 2003. It's a great riding car aside from the rather abrupt engagement of the turbo's. The problem is the reliability, the worst I have experienced. The ride height suspension has failed several times costing thousands, the burning oil smell that started at 60kmi continues despite replaced gaskets, chain tensioner, drain plugs, valve cover seal's,..etc. We have done every service and followed all recommendations from our Audi dealer. They seem incapable of fixing the burning smell and other problems endemic to this model. Compared to my BMW this car is truly a mechanical nightmare. Will never by another Audi."

"I love my allroad it has been a very very reliable vehicle. I have the 2.7t which is a great motor and has great power with the two turbos on hand for when you need them, the only problem with this motor is that it loves to drink gas. The air suspention is great but it doesnt handle as well as my a4 but i do realize the allroad is bigger so im not complaining. Ok i have to tell you that if you dont maintain audis then they will give you problems but if you do maintain them then they will last well into 200000 or more."

Great Ride when it wasn't in the shop

"I loved the way this car felt, but it was the least reliable vehicle I've ever owned. I purchased as a CPO in 2007 and it's first trip back to the service dept was within the first month. During the 2 year CPO period, the following items were repaired...2 Brake light switches, 1 rear air spring, 1 thermostat, leaking valve cover, leaking cam seals, cv boots, tie rod assemblies. Once the warranty expired the real fun began...2 failed front air springs, viscous fan shattered while driving and destroyed lots of stuff under the hood. Torque converter began to fail and the impending couple of thousand dollar price to fix finally convinced me to sell. My experiences with this car are not the exception. Take a look at any of the allroad owners forums online. They are packed with owners with constant problems. Nice looking car, great fun to drive, handled like a dream, but all that isn't worth anything if it's going to leave the owner stranded monthly. During the CPO period I contacted Audi re the multitude of ongoing problems and repeat visits to the shop. I was more or less met with a "Too bad, so sad" attitude. Never again"
