"have had for only a week. can't comment on reliability. Firmer than C and E class Softer than 3 series firmer than 5 series but about same feel of weight. xc70 is a little bigger and slower A6 is way slow VW 6 cyl turbo 280hp is nearest thing. Faster and cooler sound than any of them. Seats feel very nice and all the memorized gizmos, seat and steering wheel position is just awesome. The car is 10 years old and still does 0-60 in sub 7 seconds. Impressive. Corners pretty well for weight. Sticks in corners. Maybe a little uncertain feel with 4 wheel going on all the time. Other car is saab 9-3 turbo. Amazingly similar acceleration with S6 and a bunch more weight. And, acceleration is available like right now, rather than turbo delay. Very cool car. $9k with 115k miles if you're looking for similar."

"If you can own only one car, this should be the one. It is a perfect mix of luxury, performance, snow capability and stealth. I've fit dining room tables in this... I've taken five people skiing... and it still gets looks and admirers at almost 10 years old. The fit and finish is incredible. It still has no rattles and looks brand new inside and out. The performance is fantastic... and the look on young punk faces when you smoke their BMW, Mercedes, etc in a wagon with furniture in the back is priceless. If Audi started selling the S6 Avant again in the US, or even better, the RS6 Avant... I would buy another one in a second. The best all around, most sure footed, car I've ever owned. Only drawbacks are lower than I'd like MPG and a windshield washer fluid reservoir that goes empty pretty quickly."

"I've owned a 2000 Porsche 911, Audi Allroad, A6 avant, 100S Avant, 100S sedan, BMW X3, Saab 9-3 anniversary edition, and none of these are as well rounded as the Audi S6. Surely one of the best sport wagons ever produced; power, handling, spaciousness, and ride comfort all at levels that exceed expectations. These values wrapped in a package that today, 8 years after its manufacture date, is as pleasing to the eyes as it was when brand new."
