Consumer Reviews
"I've owned the 335d for three years now, 42,000 trouble free miles later and still a blast to drive! I get about 35 mpg's, and the car has proved to be very dependable. The only disappointment is that BMW stopped importing it after 2012, but no biggie plan on keeping this one for a number of more years."

"Finding a car on the net has been fun and effective for me. I wanted a 4dr, AWD, sporty MANUAL. That basically meant Audi S4 or BMW 335iX. I put in the filters, and my search was successful in 2 weeks. Shipped car in from Tuscon, no problems. This car is even faster than I expected, and is in mint condition, as it was promised. BMW 335 is much lighter on its feet than the Audi S4, not as luxurious. Gas mil. is amazing; 27 at 75mph."

"Performance is awesome, good looks and refinement. Everything you would expect from "the ultimate driving machine". Only wish there was a way to turn off the AWD system to wag the tail when I want, (are you listening BMW?) like my M3."

"The BMW 335d is an underrated and incredible car. It has a diesel engine with almost 300bhp, which shifts the car along at a pace that is unbelievably close to an M3. At cruising speed, the 335d offers the sort of gas mileage you would expect to find in a tiny compact. Combine that with bulletproof reliablity and overall build quality, impressive residuals, loads of standard equipment and great looks, and you are left with a sports car like no other. Don't be put off by it because of poor American diesel engines, this engine produces more torque than an M3, and makes it the best car BMW make by far."

"Very nice vehicle. White with M package. Car is very quick, gets around 22mpg all around. Truly, a driver's car. More expensive than just about anything else in its class when you add all the bells and whistles but you do get "free" service. Negatives? Kind of minor: Back seat is tight. Interior is cramped. IPod will not charge with integrated system nor can you download onto car's computer. Nav system a bit freaky, not always accurate. Radio controls way too complicated. Truly, one of the most fun cars I have ever owned. Just a blast to drive."

"My 335 cost $56k and have owned it for 8 months now. To put it simply, It leaves much to be desired! Sure it handles well and the engine is reasonably powerful, but there are some things that I can't believe! First, BMW's come with leather as an option! I assumed that a car costing over 50k should have it standard but my 335 didn't. It has leatherette seats which I found out is nothing more than vinyl!!! I was so disappointed. In addition, I'm constantly having to go to the dealer to fix a chronically failing Oxygen sensor! Whoever calls this a "Refined Automobile" must be out of their minds. Also, the care-free maintenance package is built into the price of the car which would explain why BMW's are so expensive to begin with. They're in the shop more than they are on the road! I'll say it again BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!"

"Diesel is great with plenty of power, though I sometimes feel a lag in the tranny. GPS is for the birds. Seats adjust manually or by key only, no auto moving back when the motor is turned off. Air is auto but when getting in a 100 degree car you must hit the max button else you only get one bar setting, unless you manually hit the fan button. The HD radio is not as good as other cars, I wonder what the regular radio sounds like? Maintenance once a year is great. The braking system is exceptional."

"This car has exceeded my expectations. I bought it without having driven an example. I owned the 335i model prior to placing an order for the 335d. The diesel is every bit as quick as its gasoline counterpart. Due to it's massive torque, however, it seems to be very relaxed, even when you are really hustling. It is unbelievably composed on the interstate, easily leaping from 80 to 100 miles an hour or more. Driven more sedately it will return well over 40 miles to the gallon on the highway and even at a steady 90 miles an hour will return an honest 31 miles per gallon. For a car with this performance this is absolutely phenomenal economy. Compared to cars in its size range, it truly does have four-cylinder fuel economy and V-8 performance. It does cost a substantial amount of money to purchase, although the $4500 eco-credit does ease the sting a little. My example, nearly fully loaded except for active cruise control and one or two other features that I did not feel that I would need came to more than $58,000. This is a chunk of change for a car that is not much bigger than a Honda Civic. On the other hand it is safe, blindingly quick, economical, and attractive. The stereo, which I paid a substantial amount extra for is fantastic and the I drive system has proved to be easy-to-use and helpful. If you are considering a car in this general segment I would highly recommend that you drive this vehicle before making a final decision. It has a stunning combination of attributes and very little if any downsides. I trust that BMW keeps bringing over engines like these."

"Absurd performance in a Diesel. Outstanding quality, what you would expect for a car designed and manufactured in Germany. Delivers a smile every time I park it and look back at it sitting there in its parking space, and you know what I mean."

"A great car that continues to impress me after 2000 miles. I bought a VW Jetta TDI with a cash for clunkers trade in. It is a nice car, but didn't handle as well as my RWD 1992 BMW 525i that I traded in. BMW offered a $4500 "Eco-credit" so I gave the Jetta to my daughter and ordered the 335d. We have had a good experience with our 2006 BMW 330i, but this is even more fun. With over 425 ft/lbs of torque, the power comes on strong at low RPMs yet is giving over 32 MPG around town and more on the highway. The 330i gets around 22 MPG in comparable driving in the city and up to 30 MPG on the highway. With the sports package it is very nice to drive. It only comes as a 4 dr sedan now with a conventional (but well matched) ZF automatic transmission. The Jetta had a nice dual clutch transmission which had a great sport mode. I would have liked the coupe. You have to be careful filling it since Diesel fuel is smelly and not all stations carry it or have the correct nozzles for filling. The car came with an adapter. I have heard BMW may offer more diesel variations in the future like they offer in other markets. The engine in this model is a good place to start."
