The five-seat 5 Series is offered with a twin-turbo V-8 (550i), a single-turbo six-cylinder (535i), a turbo-diesel six-cylinder (535d) and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder for the 528i. Competitors include the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6 and Infiniti M.

New for 2014
The biggest news for 2014 is the addition of an all-new diesel model to the 5 Series lineup. Offered with either rear- or all-wheel drive, the 535d is powered by a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that makes 255 horsepower and 413 pounds-feet of torque.
The 550i sedan gains a more powerful V-8 engine that’s rated at 445 hp and 480 pounds-feet of torque.

Other improvements to the entire 5 Series lineup – including the Gran Turismo models – include revised front and rear styling, standard adaptive xenon high-intensity-discharge headlamps and an iDrive navigation system with a tracing pad for direct character input. The 5 Series adopts the appearance “Lines” used elsewhere in the BMW lineup and also gains more storage room.

Newly optional features include a rear-seat entertainment system with tablet-style displays, selectable ambient lighting and adaptive LED headlights.

  • Great car. Roomy and comfortable.

This is my 3rd 5 series and my favorite of the bunch. Since its built on the 7 platform is has the leg room, dash, shifter/center console of the 7, but with more headroom and a ton of storage (especially with the back seats down). The pano sunroof is great as is all of the additional storage cubbies. On the con side, it's not the sportiest Beemer you'll ever drive as it's tall and heavy, though the pickup is still good, especially in sport mode. I would absolutely buy this car again, although now, I believe it's a 635 GT.

  • 2015 Drives Great on ECO Mode and Saves Gas

Was very worried that it will take a lot of Gas but it has a ECO Mode that give me sometimes 28 to 32 MPG on Highway. It's not a Hybrid but it behaves like a Hybrid as it stops and saves Gas when you Brakes for more than 5 seconds. Lots of space inside, very safe, and Child friendly. It's a 5 series Car uses the platform from from 7 Series. Tires cost $350 each and Car shows notification when Serivice is needed not only just Oil Change but also Brakes, Tires, and lot more. Don't buy it wihtout warranty since it's loaded with Programs.

  • The best car that I have ever owned

The car exceeds my expectation. Before this car, I owned a Volkswagen for 5 years, which is a great car. But this BMW 535i GT just surpasses the people's car by orders of magnitude. The 535i GT is super comfortable for both front and rear passengers. Tons of legrooms (the same wheelbase as a 7 series). Longer than a standard 5 series. Very convenient trunk: kick open, and two different ways of opening the trunk. Soft-closing doors are making things even cooler. It has so much more gadgets and technologies compared to my old car. I6 turbocharged engine is the perfect engine: good fuel efficiency and ample power. After owning this car, it would be very hard for me to drive any other smaller car. The standard has been set.
