"Had to replace AWD conrtol unit within one week of purchase, hood latch hangs up some times. For a 2002 not too bad."

"I have an AWD Astro in snow country. The traction on glare ice is incredible. It just goes. The weight disribution seems to be just right to allow the front wheel drive to start working when the rear starts slipping. Very positive control. Very dependable. Had to replace fuel pump at 100,000miles. Water pump, starter and alternator soon after. Still on original plugs at 126,000, going strong. Very comfortable seating all around with great visibility and tall driving height. All Astro/Safari owners here brag on the traction. Wish GM still made them. Nothing since compares."

A good van, but not a great van

"I bought this van new and have put 120,000 miles on it--mostly long trips. It's been very reliable- just minor repairs and routine maintenance. The gas mileage is pretty good-- avg 25 mpg-- but I wish the seats were more comfortable. I'm short, and the headrest hits me wrong. I don't like that you have to take the seats out and leave them--my next van will have "stow and go" seats."
