I have a 1994 Caprice 9c1. This car is big and ugly, but it fast, comfortable, and reliable as h***.

hate the distributor position though have to replace the front end stearing parts a bit to often got bit rust hole where front pass feet would rest at seam between floor pan and fire wall they calked the inside and water got in and salt good thing i noticed it before it rotted the whole floor pan. fixed it with a old license plate and pl200 glue.

Fast and fun, but theft-prone

by Police car buff from Washington, dc | July 26, 2007

I have a police version of this car. Dramatically different from the civilian boats with heavy duty everything. The thing handles really well, corners flat and has gobs of torque. I prefer it over the 5 series BMWs (excluding the M5). Seven attempted thefts in the past three years. It makes highway driving effortless. 25mpg on the highway is not bad. G80 posi option is a must for snowy conditions. These cars run over 500,000 miles but the trannys tend to give up every 80,000 miles or so. Look at the upper control arms for corrosion. Cheap to maintain if you're doing it yourself.
