Consumer Reviews
"Gas milage is very good. Surprised to not have cruise control. Kind of assumed that cruise control was a standard feature in this day and age. Car is good value for cost."

"Bought this car band-new.Now has 9K miles. Not a single mechanical issue; the car is still tight with no rattles or squeaks. The overall fuel economy has improved to over 38 MPG for 80% city driving. My best 50 mile economy is 50.0 MPG. Got an indicated 45+ MPG for a recent 450 mile trip which is probably around 42 MPG actual. The computer is consistently 2-3 MPG high. My only complaint is the hood has a few chips in it; I've read other complaints about this as well . Overall, I'm very pleased with this car. I highly recommend anyone shopping for a high MPG car test drive a Cruze before making a purchase decision."

"This is my first compact GM car in 25 years due to their cheap interiors, mediocre styling and poor driving dynamics. My Cruze Eco manual has exceeded every expectation: the car is fun to drive, quiet, refined and regularly exceeds 45 MPG on my work commute. The firm European engineered front seats are very supportive, the ride with the sport spring suspension is well controlled and comfortable and the shifter throws are short and light. I have 11K miles without a single issue. The trunk is bigger than some mid-size cars and the interior room rivals a mid-size. The Pioneer sound system is worth the money, the fog lights work better than any factory lamps I've had on my cars, the nav screen is large, colorful with crisp readouts, the back up warning works well and the power seat, combined with the tilt/telescopic wheel, offers a wide rang of adjustability. If you want more power contact Trifecta (0-60 in 6.8 seconds - auto). GM engineers sweated the details to create a car that has exceeded the EPA ratings 100% of the time. My overall average is around 37 MPG actual, not indicated. The lighter weight and lowered CG contribute to a nimble feeling car. A friend who drives a BMW asked to trade cars after he drove my Cruze. I have to shift it more than my Corvette but that's part of the car's nature; the shifter is enjoyable to use so that's not a problem for me. This car looks good, handles well (tire limited, not chassis - Tire Rack has LRR tires that add 0.04 g's), is easy to see out of, has a solid structure (the doors sound like a Mercedes when they close) and has ten airbags. The car could use 40 HP and 50 ft. lbs. (if Trifecta can do it so can GM), four wheel disc brakes (using the Volts HD brake system would provide much improved stopping), and an armrest with cupholders for the rear passengers (Eco autos get one, not manuals). Those are my only complaints. I looked at other vehicles in the segment but was impressed by the Cruze's overall performance and value. If you're in the market for a refined, fun to drive, high MPG car I recommend test driving the Cruze Eco manual before making a purchase decision."

"I've had this car for a little over a year, and have enjoyed driving it. Nice features, easy to drive, even liked the gas mileage. But, 2 weeks ago I started to smell antifreeze in the cabin. Sure enough, my radiator fluid was low. Took it into the dealership, and GM said to put "dye in the radiator, and have the customer drive it around for a week". Yep, breath in more burnt antifreeze, but, just for another week.... Even though this problem is well known, GM has not shown a fix for it. And, I don't think they will. Bought it for $23,000. Trading it in for a Honda. Trade in value is only $13000. But, fresh air is priceless."

"But not for very long, Form fitting seats are hard on your butt. Would need a change of driver after two hours. Cruise control might need some pedal on steep hills. Has optional shift for down hill. No room in back seat for passengers because of long legged driver. and the front seat goes back far enough for long legged driver. Roomy trunk"

"This is my first new car at 42 years old. I was super excited. I bought the 2LT with RS package, Summit White. I love all the option and the sporty look. After driving it for a few weeks I starting noticing the jerking as I would slow down and the loudness of the motor. Being a new car I thought the car should be more quiet so I took it to the dealership only to be told this is normal for these new motors. I insisted they let me drive another car on their lot just so I could make sure it wasn't just my car, and it wasn't. Another thing on both cars was insulation fibers under the dash up by the windshield. I was told by the dealership this happened because when the windshield was installed by the manufacturer the foam piece they set it on the car didn't extend all the way across the windshield, it left about 8 inches on each side which caused those fibers not to be pushed down. I'm sure all the Cruze's are like this since 2 I've seen are. I also notice hearing air coming in, thinking it was coming in through the windows but it wasn't. I haven't bothered taking it back to the dealership about that yet. I just expect a new car to be a quiet ride."

"I was Looking for a newer used car to save money on depretiation Value on new. Spent months reading reviews and narrowing down all compact cars. Toyota corrola boring with recalls, Honda civic little nicer but road noise and dash wacky, hyndai elantra and accent nice but still new to markett comming from a cheap car, time will tell with them, kia fortte nice but feel the same as hyndai, Ford focus was number 1 choice untill bad reviews of new stlye automatic , test drove 2010 with hopes to buy felt like older womens car to me and thats a decked out ses sport version. Now this is upgrading from a dodge neon 2005 with 140,000 with no breakdowns very impressed with neon. that lead me to the new dodge Dart very nice but new to markett have to see issues when they come out. With chevy last on my list claimed would never buy because of poor engineering and family owners of chevys that don't hold up well. I stumbled accross a 2012 LT 1.4,auto,very well equipped so figured i will give it a try with no hopes to buy it. Test drove the car very impressed good power ,good shifting, very nice lay out. Feels like you are in a mid sized car, except cramped rear seating room. Gas milage so far not impressed compared to neon i am shocked , but cause of 15.6 gal tank i can go 200 miles further ,average same as neon 32 to 34 mpg hwy, cruise set 65 mph, light accell. maybe break in will change this. Now keep this in mind great power but relize it is the turbo thats making the little 1.4 engine feel big with a 4000 lb car this will kill the engine over time in hilly city driving so long term high milage will be the key with this engine. I am giving Gm a chance if this car fails i will never buy another car from them. All these reviews are too early on this car but give you somthing to go on, one year minimun ownership is the key to review. So far i recommend it, but do not rush better to buy a car without the turbo this way engine will be sized properly for long ownership. I know this has been kinda boring but just trying to help consumers out there , we want quality for what we buy and deserve that for the money we spend ! my advice research well select wise take your time when you buy ! Good Luck with your purchase !"

"Pros- Great overall value for the price. Exterior looks good. Nice grill in the front, headlight design and body lines. High-arching rear a nice touch. Interior looks great. Controls, stereo, etc. all look modern and sleek. The color scheme and overall look of the inside and seats are very slick. Roomy cabin and trunk. Very safe with all the airbags. Also the car feels pretty heavy so you know its sturdy compared to a lot of the plastic cars out there. Pretty good gas mileage. Cons- The weight of the car makes it feel heavy. You can feel the shifting and a slight jerking at times during acceleration and deceleration. You can feel it when you start to coast at low speeds especially. Not bumpy or anything, but noticeable. Speed, acceleration and power are fine for getting around but it could definitely have used a little more muscle. It's not a big issue, the car can still "cruise" 70+mph on the highway but it wont win any races. Bonus- A couple nice touches I noticed. Radio will still play for a few minutes after you turn off the engine until you actually open your door to get out. There is a nifty "gutter system" on the trunk that will keep rain from running down the rear windshield and into your trunk by diverting it away."
