"We have had our Equinox for about 4 years now and it seems that are time with it is coming to an end. When we had to have the head gasket replaced the second month we had it (the car only had 45,000 miles on it, luckily we had purchased the extended warranty). I should have seen that as an omen of things to come. The lastest damage for repairs includes sway bar links (for the third time!?!), wheel bearings, center support bearing and a host of other things for a grand total of $3400 in repairs. Do your homework before buying one and get the exetended warranty if available. I hope they have improved the build quality in the newer models."

"I enjoy this SUV. My uncle brought it new in 2005. He expired in 2010. The SUV had 27,000 miles on it and was purchased for me (from my uncle's wife) by my husband. I have had no problems yet and after driving this vehicle (very easy to handle) I will never go back to a passenger car again. Chevy does not make a bad car."

"i bought a 2005 chevy equinox after trading in my 2004 vw jetta. i was impressed by the exterior of the equinox, but that thrill didnt last long. the ride was terrible and the interior seemed cheap compared to my VW. i only kept the chevy for a year. i was so happy to get rid of it."

"This 2005 Chevy Equinox LT is, by far, the absolute worst vehicle I've ever owned. I purchased this vehicle in early 2006 and it has been one problem after another. Chevy has been known to make great trucks for years....although they flopped with this one. 1) STARTING TROUBLE - I began experiencing periodic (sometimes often) problems with the vehicle starting after about 2 months. This vehicle was taken back to Chevy on numerous occassions, and they absolutely refuse to acknowledge the problem. They changed out the steering column a couple times, and the problem still persists. I began reading blogs on the vehicle, only to find that it is an all too common problem. I personally encountered two other '05 Equinox owners...same problem...still no acknowledgement from Chevy -- the fix - hit the gas when it hesitates to start - how crazy!!; 2) DASHBOARD BLACKED OUT - The dashboard completely blacked out about 6 months after purchase. Luckily the vehicle was still under factory warranty; 3) BRAKES - I drive an average of 10k miles per year, and I've had to replace the brakes on this vehicle more times than I care to share; 4) SWAY BAR - replaced the darn sway bar twice in my 5 years of ownership; 5) MASTER CYLINDER - master cylinder had to be replaced somewhere around Year #3; 6) MOISTURE IN HEADLIGHT - noticed this a couple months after purchasing. My mechanic attempted to put a seal around the light...it did not help; EGV TUBE/VALVE replaced; LEATHER INTERIOR - the leather seats started cracking after Year #2. KNOBS - the silver paint around the radio knobs, door handles, etc....all peeling. I can go on and on and on....but I'll spare you. By looking at the reviews posted by others....do not buy this vehicle unless you just enjoy spending money and time on constant repairs. My issues were made that much worst by the fact that Chevy refused to acknowledge these persistent problems. BUYER BEWARE!!!"

"The Equinox is nothing but problems. 1. Constant starting issues (dealership cannot figure out the problem). 2. Cheap quality interior. Seats are uncomfortable and stains very easily. The paint on the buttons of my radio chip by the slightest touch. 3. No vents in the back. You have to blast the a/c otherwise your passengers are going to suffer heat exhaustion. 4. Trunk storage bins are ridiculious and take up more room. 5. Headlights have water in it (not sure how moisture even gets in to them). 6. At 70K miles and already need my head gasket replaced and a new a/c compressor. I definitely DO NOT recommend this car to ANYONE."
