"Rotors warped on new brakes from Midas. Steering or front end was repaired by Chevy. There are too many complaints by other HHR owners."

HHR/SS is So So much fun to drive !!!

"I purchased my HHR SS used from a young couple who had inherited from a parent who had recently passed away. The vehicle had only 8000 miles on it and still had the new car smell. It is bright silver in color with a black and red color interior (The upgraded leather sport seats with SS logo on the seat backs). I must say that I love this vehicle. It is quiet and comfortable. It handles solidly when turning or taking curves. It has great get up and go as the SS five speed has around 250 hp. It shifts nicely and I do have the five speed which for me was a must. This vehicle seems to sit lower to the ground which I like. It makes it very easy to enter and exit. It also gives it a kind of "lowrider" affect, which adds to its "cool factor". Site lines from a driving standpoint are good. I have no problem seeing any thing that comes up on the street or highway. The rear seats fold forward and flat without removing the headrests. Just a pull of one button releases them. The resulting "cargo area" is respectably large as I have fit a full size road bicycle in back without removing the wheels of the bike. I am currently getting just under 31 mpg with a combination of city/highway driving that leans a bit toward the highway side. Very happy with that!! The braking is smooth and solid with the upgraded calipers. No hint of any rotor warpage as I have heard from other owners. All in all, this HHR/SS is a very solid very fun ride with the pleasent addition of great mileage. I have had many compliments on it. I would recommend the SS version of the HHR family without hesitation. Have fun and drive safe. See you on the streets."

Not the Best Car I've Ever Owned...

"Replacement car for my totaled Pontiac Vibe (which is the BEST car I've ever owned). Pros: Looks GREAT. Good space, perfect size for my family, great rear space for the dog. reasonable gas mileage. Good pick-up, fun drive. Little engine problems except... Cons: Stalls on start-up on very hot days. In GA, there are a LOT of hot days. Both key fobs died within months of getting the car--seems there's a problem with poorly designed key fobs in this model. It's $150 to replace the fob locally. Okay, I'll just use the key except...lock jams up, and, with only ONE key lock, means I can't get into my car unless I leave one of the passenger side doors unlocked or call a locksmith. Already had the lock looked at twice (at $75 fee each time), and since I was locked out of the car with my car keys in hand, insurance doesn't cover locksmith fees ($50 a pop). Rotor seems to have an issue with warping--already fixed it twice. Cup holder--not a huge issue when compared to other issues! Air conditioning is going as well--did I mention it was hot in GA? Some of these issues are not isolated to my vehicle, when I researched the issues on-line. Overalll, I'm currently looking for another car, and plan to trade this money-pit to some other person willing to make that kind of investment!"

"Pros - the hubby and I were able to sleep comfortably in the back end. The height fits my 6ft tall boys with room to spare. I am able to fit three large size teenagers in the back seat - a little squishy but can be done. The power is great and it is a fun car to drive. The space in the back end is great for groceries and other things and I love the shelf option. You can "hide" stuff on the bottom shelf and cannot see what's there with the top shelf up. Cons - cup holders are ok as far as location and number. The car uses a LOT of gas when running the AC. the back window with wiper does not allow for window decals - just me :-) some of the blind spots are bothersome but you get used to it and adapt. My only suggestions are to put wind visors (or whatever they are called) on the windows because rain gets in easily. and to make it so the back windows can be opened an inch or so (like some van windows do)"

"Ive owned my 09 HHR for about a year now and i absolutely love it. Ideal storage with the backseats folded down, peppy 4cyl 5spd, great gas mileage with 100% gas. The only issues i have with it are the cup holders are too close together and with a 5spd makes shifting a little bit tricky."

"I have owned my 2009 HHR for a little over a year now and I have been very happy with it. It gets great gas mileage. I would say that I get 30-31 mpg and I usually drive 70-75 mph since most of my commute is interstate toll road. In addition to an interesting exterior design, the interior design is pretty good as well. I have a black leather interior with the heated seats and lumbar support and I find the car to be very comfortable. Probably the only issue with the car is that the interior isn't all that roomy. It can fit 4 comfortably but really, that is all that most vehicles can fit if everyone doesn't want to be packed in like sardnes. My husband is a fairly large man (6ft, 240#) and he says that the driver's seat is not comfortable to him but it would be adequate for most people. When we take our two children with us, there is no way we could fit a third person into the backseat because it is only large enough to accomodate 1 carseat and 1 other passenger. Personally, I really enjoy driving this car because it looks & handles great, gets excellent gas mileage, stops on a dime, and has plenty of the room in the cargo area for groceries."

"I bought mine used and except for a sensor issue I LOVE it I run flex fuel so i am saving on fuel on HWY miles which my wife uses it for. The only thing I do not care for is with the sun visor down I can not see very well. Other wise this is a great commuter car and family car. I really like this car and when it comes time to replace there maybe another HHR in my drive way"

"The Chevrolet HHR is an ok car. The sunvisors are not long enough to block the sun when turned on the side windows. The cupholders are too close together to hold (2) 32 oz beverage cups. You also have to lift the arm rest to access the cupholders. After owning the HHR for 7 months I wish i would have purchased a Malibu or Impala."
