"I really like the exterior design and the roomy inside. My only complaint is that the defrost has a tendency to blow up and toward your face which can make it feel stuffy. However, my family really likes it."

"We bought our HHR used with 43k miles on it from a local dealer. We are very pleased with our purchase. The car is comfortable, rides well, gets great mileage, has very good pickup-the 4cyl/transmission combination surprises you, and we like to look and roominess of the car. We're very pleased with our choice."

HHR - mileage + space

"Chevy doesn't advertise the HHR much because it's more practical and easier on gas than some of their other low end SUVs that they make more money on. I needed to carry a lot of video equipment, load easily but I refused to get a car with gas mileage worse than my previous car (27 in the city, 32 on the hwy - actual numbers). The HHR is great on gas and terrific for cargo. Plus I do like the "retro" look of the car; I think it's fun. Only negative is a lack of interior storage space within easy reach of the driver."

"Economical, great small utility vehicle. Interior could do with a redesign. Cup holders are in an awkward position. If you're tall, the windshield is a bit low, its difficult to look up at traffic lights when at the stop line. Good balance between power and gas mileage. Good usefull features and options."

"I had a '07 HHR LS. A Chevy Venture Minivan cut me off and I t-boned it and slide down the side of the van. The van was very messed up and all I had was a front quarter panel Nd bumper that had to be replaced. I was very thankful I had such a great solid car. The more I drove it the better I liked it and traded it in for a '10 HHR LT. The car has excellent gas mileage usually around 29-32. I have a bad back and find it easy to get in and out of. It is so much fun to drive. I have had no mechanical problems with my '07 which had 63,000 miles and my '10 has 39,000. The interior is plastic and probably others would like more expensive interior but I love it. I have two dogs and dont have to worryabout them hurting thr interior with claws. I have frie ds that drove my '07 and they feel in love with it and bought one for themselves. They have had theirs since '08 and they have had no problems with the car. They still love it. I would recommend this car to anyone that wants a reliable and safe vehicle."

"Great little wagon. Plenty of pep & good MPG. I get 28 MPG ovewrall. 32 -34 Hwy. Fold flat front passenger seat allows me to carry 8' lumber & 8' ladder inside. I bought a 2010 with 30K miles from a Chevy Dealer and received the extra warranty at no charge & they put on new tires and brakes. Paying less than 14 K out the door,I felt like I got a good car at a good price with the features that were important to me."

"I recently purchased a used 2010 HHR LT after reading multiple reviews and spending a month researching what kind of car I wanted. After test driving this one I was sold. People tell me it's ugly but I think it looks great. It has zippy little engine that has plenty of power to get up and go when needed yet is easy on gas. I traded in my old 99 Malibu that I have driven for over 10 years and was afraid that this car would be too cramped but I find quite the opposite is true. It sits higher up and the seat feels like I'm sitting in a comfy chair. The car's handling is great and it has many great features and great crash test rating. So I would recommend this car to anyone that wants a small yet roomy and reliable means of transportation. The only thing i'm not crazy about is when using E-85 fuel the mileage is about 20% less then with gas, but I know that is true with all Flex-Fuel cars, other then that this is one fun car to drive."

Neat looking car, functional but not a sports car

"I read every review I could find before I pulled the trigger on a used 2010 2LT with 12 ticks on the clock. I've owned it about 3 months now. As a lot of other buyers I came to know this car after renting one on a business trip. You'll find about 95% of the used ones on the market are former rentals. Most complaints from other reviewers are justified but some of the reviews are just plain unfair. Generally speaking, the complaints are: small (yes), uncomfortable (somewhat), made from the cheapest materials (yes, especially the interior), bad handling (compared to a Corvette, yes), underpowered (4 cyl, yes), bad fuel economy (compared to what?), bad visibility (yes), not a solid feeling car (sure isn't), resale value (don't buy it new), overall bad quality (probably), and styling (an opinion at best). Styling is usually why people buy or don't buy this car. I bought it so there's one opinion on that! All of the other stuff should have been obvious to the buyers who totally trash this car after buying it. From this I must assume these buyers are lacking in their buying knowledge and/or experience. I bought this car because above all I think it's exterior design is awesome. It is a totally functional car in that you can carry 4 people reasonably comfortably or a good bit of cargo with the fold flat rear seats. If you do load the car up with people or cargo don't try the hills in the passing lane or depend on a quick stop. My criteria was a car with a personality (styling) that I could carry my dog (or cargo)in and still get reasonable fuel economy. This car does all this admirably. I was well aware of the complaints beforehand. Of all of them, poor fuel economy is unfounded. Although I lost about 5 mpg from my trade, I'm still getting 28/32 with the 2.4 engine. The interior is ergonomically lacking but not unbearable. Remember, the styling of this thing comes from a 1949 Suburban. Lets do a review on that tank! Anyway, the dog loves it and so far I do also. As a cummuter I rarely have a chance to enjoy "performance" so average performance and handling is fine - and although the car isn't overly comfortable it isn't painful either. The only reason I wouldn't recommend it to a friend is that I worry about its reliability. I've spent many years avoiding GM like the plague and probably should be still. Given the country's current economic/job situation the whole "buy American" thing has hit home with me but in the end it is what it is - a cheaply built, stylish and functional GM product. Reliability remains to be seen - he says with fingers crossed! If you buy it - enjoy it. It is a fun ride if you don't expect sports car performance out of it."
