"MY 2004 IMPALA WAS A RENTAL THAT I BOUGHT FROM A DEALER FOR 14000 . IT TURNED OUT TO BE A GOOD BUY. IT HAS LITTLE PROBLEMS AND GETS 18-21 MPH AROUND TOWN AND EVEN BETTER ON THE ROAD. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER IMPALA WHEN FINANCES PERMIT. LOVE IT. LOVE CHEVYS"

"Keeping my car because it's to good to trade. The SS Indy is stylish and gets excellent mileage. I would say to all that can find one, buy it and enjoy. Was offered a low ball price for it but dealer wants top dollar for half the car."

"Bought 04 used in 05, put on 60K with only a brake job and radiator flush and tires in over 6 years. I replaced the Goodyears with Continentals and run them 6 psi higher for tighter feel. Car has served me so I've treated it with synthetic oil whenever the CHANGE OIL light comes on every 6K or so. Power and performance are great, driver and passenger set their own temperatures, fold-down rear seats allowed a huge table from IKEA in the car with lid closed. May the fourth be with you too."

"Great gas mileage, big trunk, comfortable driving car...but the brakes and calipers are junk and the transmission slips sometimes. I've had this car since 2006 and have 69000 miles on her. Haven't done any repairs except all the brakes/calipers and normal maintence/oil changes and transmission flush/filter at 45000 miles..but transmission still slips sometimes. Good winter car in snow too."

"I have over 240K on my Impala and it has been incredibally reliable. It is equipped with teh 3.4 liter engine and it may be a little weak but it is always good for 30 gpm on the highway and 27 in town. My only regret is that GM has yielded to the unions. I drove a 2010 Impala and it is not the same car. It does not get the milage and it does not have the power. I have talked to other owners and they said the newer impalas are prone to expensive computer problems."

"I fell in love with the Impala after I rented one. I finally bought one after I drove my Taurus into the ground and thought I had a steal... 4 months after I bought my used Impala, the speedometer stopped working. Then the tachometer, then the gas gauge, and finally the temp gauge. Thank god for the electronic readouts, or I'd never know how much gas I have. I read online this was a known issue - instrument panel failure, but Chevy won't replace it... or won't replace it on their dime.... $500 to fix and no guarantee.... Other than that epic fail, the car is a tank and I love it."

"I've had an '04 Impala LS for 6 years, bought it brand new, fully loaded. I love it, it's had no major repairs, been a dream to drive, routinely gets great gas mileage on the open road. I have not regretted my decision. It's an awesome car! As long as you keep the oil changes and routine maintenance done, it will serve you well. The only bad thing is, there isn't alot of room for adults to ride in the rear seat comfortably - otherwise, it's the nicest car I've owned."

"Ran fine for 5 years then the a/c went, has required 3 rebuilt transmissions and a new GM tranny and the car still surges or slips occassionlly, the front end seals and CV joints need to be replaced and there is a constant thumping in the front but no GM mechanics know why (I'm on my 3rd set of tires while trying to diagnose the problem because they still they still think it is a tire problem). Now the a/c has stopped again. At the beginning of the year I had to replace the signal/headlight control arm. Strong 3.8L motor, good fuel economy but all savings are eaten up in repairs"
