Consumer Reviews
"This by far is the best car i've ever had. I also own a 2003 Honda Accord and i have had to swap out the engine on that thing many times. This malibu, Very reliable, very confortable, great handling! I bought it n 03 and just recently, it suffered its real big problem, It was just the alternator and a cable connected to the alternator that went bad. 2 hours in the mechanics and it was back to normal. Very supprised. It handles great even on snow. Its only a FWD car but it handles like a AWD car. Even on street tires! Speakers sound identical to those expensive Bose speakers. Friends at my school are very jealous that i have this malibu. Another excellent Chevy car!"

"Bought new in 2003.Now 81,000 miles later have had no problems except the glove box hinge broke. everything about the car runs and works well but after having owned a few Honda accords it just cannot compare in it's handling ability! You feel the difference immediately. This car does not hold it's value well but IF you are buying it used then it can be a real bargain. (someone else took the heavy depreciation.) Note this car ranked right up their with the accord and camry for dependability. Satisfied buyer but might make my next car an accord, they just handle better."

"I got this car about a year ago for about $7,000. Now the car is only worth about $5,000. It doesn't hold it's value well.Things were good until I had to replace the wheel bearing which was costly because in order to have this part it comes with the whole hub assembly. Also the crank shaft sensor and computer was a problem. The computer was very costly. I found that the breaks weren't that good and I also read a review that someone else had problems with the sound system. The CD player was eating my cd! It's not like I beat up on the car or anything. I guess I thought it would be a bit better."

"This is my second Malibu (accident in first one). Love the dash board layout. Smooth acceleration, nice ride, handles the corners with much less body roll than my 98 Malibu. Suspension must be a bit stiffer than the previous one. Squeeks and rattles are naturally increasing as the years roll on. Only real problem has been the AC recirc button doesn't always stay in recirc which is a problem in hot and humid south Louisiana. Sister had her 97 Malibu for 10 problem free years and regrets having to sell it due to needing a minivan for the kids and their sports. Highly recommend for the value when purchasing it used if you want point a to b transportation."

"I bought this car new and have had it the shop many times....new brakes at 26,000. The ignition cylinder replaced 3 times in 2 1/2 years....each time having to have it towed. Faulty springs in the front seats. Faulty wiring to rear light, stereo malfunction 2 times, do I need to say more??? Granted all was covered under warranty, but I still had to get the car towed numerous times, be without a car and have to walk the kids to school! Now the warranty has expired and it needs new tires and a wheel hub (I think that's what it's called) at a tune o $800, the air conditioning is starting to fail, and the horn irratically beeps. I'm thinking of dumping this car before I shell out more$$$....pretty sad for a car with only 42,000 miles on it!!!!"

"Very nice looking car, dependable, very nice ride, with all the extras included. I've owned this car for 4 months now and am very happy with it so far. From the leather interior to the car starter and zippy v6, makes a nice car for a moderate price that I could afford. Roomy interior and large trunk with the back seats that go down helps for carrying long items since I drove a small extended cab truck before this."

"I bought my Malibu used as a first car. Me, my neighbor, and sister all have one and the 1 and 2 on the temp. controls dont work and the brakes are horrible. But, it goes pretty quick, and was very very affordable. It is simple, but gets the job done and does have alot of room. I do wish that a sunroof would have been standard on the LS model. I have also noticed that many i see on the road always have tailights burnt out./?"

"Solid except for need for installation of a new dash board (under warranty). It has a slight rattling noise ever since. Very reliable otherwise and the best value I could find dollar for dollar, which I have never stated concerning a Chevy vehicle."

"I grew up with all GM vehicles. I have owned 3 Chevy vehicles in my lifetime. This by far is the worst! I purchased the Malibu new in 2003 and have taken it in every year for some problem. Beginning with the brakes: after only 25,000 miles, the front brakes had to be replaced (2004). Then a few months later, the rear brakes(2005). Then in 2005/2006 the starter was replaced TWICE. Just recently (Jan. 2007) the fuel pump went out on my car. I had to get a new one which was NOT under warranty. I am NOT a happy camper with this vehicle. I would NOT recommend it to my worst enemy."

"I need a new car quickly. My Malibu was in the right place at the right time. For a little car, it sure has a lot of kick. V6 engine probably explains that! I find that it handles amazingly well. Not a lot of bells and whistles for the interior, but I really like it."
