The Good The Bad & The Ugly

by Truck user from Ontario | August 13, 2014

The good: This truck is smooth operating and very quite. The seats are comfortable and every thing is easy to reach. Except the traction control override button. The Bad: Traction control that doesn't understand that this is a 4x4. Cuts power at the worst time possible and the hybrid tires make it worse. In deep snow and mud the truck cuts power and applies the breaks because the tires slip. The truck is in 4x4 mode some engineer needs to figure out what that means. Pressing the traction control off button only works if the tires don't slip again. When you have leaned to the center of the truck and taken your eyes off the slippery muddy road to hit the button the first time. you have to do it all over again and this time hold the button down for a longer time so hat you see the line go through the traction control symbol on the dash. Yes this means your eyes are off the road again. The Ugly: The power management system will not allow high power draws using the cigarette lighter socket. In cold weather the 12volt battery drains and freezes if the truck sits for more than a few days. The dealer said it happens to all the hybrids they see. Over all the truck works well the hybrid is smooth. The electric whine is not overly loud. The truck is easy to drive with good visibility and large mirrors. The auto temperature control is a great feature. Auto 4x4 works well and keeps you going when the truck sinks in what looked like a dry spot but don't let the wheels slip.

Just bought a 2011 Silverado Hybrid 4x4 yesterday

by Green-Neck (eco/redneck) from Alexandria, VA | August 19, 2013

But I went from 13.56mpg on 50/50 City/Hwy (in a '03 Silverado V6 RWD) to 22.12mpg on that same ratio. This truck has BALLS when needed, and all kinds of safety features to boot. Leather seats, touch screen nav/radio, and a sweet tonneau cover. LOVE THIS TRUCK!!

Hybrid is almost Perfect

by dslacker from Huntsville, AL | December 18, 2011

First of all, I am a big guy, so having a full size truck that gets 20MPG City is a something to cheer about. What I don't like is the foot pedal for putting power to the electric motor at low speeds (Below 30MPH). Tough to do, engine keeps starting with the slightest pressure to increase speed or go up a gradual high spot in the road. Once you get use to the auto stop/start then you settle down to enjoying the truck. Quite smooth ride. MPG average drops in the mountains, but I still love the power and handling. Great truck and operates as advertised.
