"PU made minor lifter noise when purchased new from Dealer, they told me that it was normal for a Chevy. Major motor troubles @ 56,000 miles, currently at Dealership being repaired. Always changed oil on time, no towing & took great care of vehicle."

"Have 40K on truck now. Been to Alaska and back, even the Yukon in March on the Alcan. Did install Eaton posi-traction rear end, which is darn near as good as "4WD". Put 700# of gravel in back and never got stuck. Got as HI as 23 MPG with Wyoming non-ethanol gas.....makes me wonder why I only get 20 MPG with ethanol gas at BEST! TRUE STORY! Must have been Cheney! General Ameritrac tires not vey good....drove to the limit at 35K and replaced."

"This is my first GM product and last. I travel a lot so most of the miles on my truck are highway. At 63,000 miles I have already replaced an a/c dryer and had a throttle body controller shoot craps. The 4wd (manually controlled) is so noisy, you would think this truck was built in the 70's. It sounds like a bad wheel bearing. Dealer has had it apart and says it is "normal". The carpeting is curling down from the firewall and is in the way of my feet. The throttle body repair, along with the scheduled fuel injection cleaning was $402. This truck needs a transmission fluid/filter change every 30,000, a regular transaxle fluid change and the fuel injection cleaning mentioned above. Not cheap maintenance!! The transmission shifts are sloppy and the mileage with the small V8 is not any better than the bigger engines. Ford's interior beats GM by a mile. Driver's seat cushion already breaking down."

"Bought my 1500 Crew, LT, 4.8L, 4x4 brand new two years ago and I'm still in love with her. I wanted a simple truck that was comfortable, reliable, durable, and can get the job done. It's definitely that and more. From hauling a trailer to a 600mi highway trip, from rain to 2.5 ft of snow, this truck handled everything like a champ. No race car, but has plenty of horses for hauling or just to open up on an empty highway. The 4x4 outperformed virtually all other vehicles on a highway covered with 3 inches of jagged ice at 45 mph - I even thought about putting it on cruise control :) Almost 20K miles on her now and not a single problem. Too many good things to say about this truck to list here. Only complaints are that there are no retractable cupholders in the dash (like 07-08 Toyota Tundra) and no roof compartment for sunglasses."

"My 2008 Silverado rides well and is relatively quiet. The engine has good power and gets decent mileage for a full size truck, the cylinder deactivation certainly helps, as the truck consistantly gets mpg in the mid-twenties at a stady 55 mph. The A/C is powerful and cold. Two complaints: The doors rattle because of the extended cab design (no b-pilar), just a big open hole and the rear door latch is required to hold the front door closed. I'm sure the double cab would be more solid and quiet. The other thing is the center storage bin is just a big bin with no trays or compartments, not very useful. Overall, I like the truck and would consider another one, but probably the double cab version."

"After 2 years of ownership and 129,000 miles, my Chevy Silverado has been a fairly reliable vehicle. I use the truck for work purposes installing bank equipment and pulling heavy loads which it does with ease. Being the LTZ Crew Cab version, comfort is no problem. The problem areas have been the A/C Vent control, door lock actuators (have had to replace all 4 more than once. The transmission failed at 99,978 miles due to mechanic error by not filling transmission with fluid during service. The transmission was replaced by dealer with no problems since. AS for the interior styling, for $43,000.00 you would think they could put in a better overhead console and somewhere to put your sunglasses. The A/C in this truck does not filter the outside air properly. Dealer said that is normal. Having owned earlier versions, I know this is not true. Overall, the truck has served me well and continues to."

"I bought my 2008 Silverado at the end of 08 when the price was right. I really like it!! My daughter says it has more room than my old F-150 and I agree. I drove F-150's for 20 years, and thought they were great, but they did not handle like this Chevy. If you're looking for a truck, test drive a Silverado. I think you'll be impressed."
