Chevrolet Silverado 3500
Full-size pickup trucks are Detroit's bread and butter, and when Chevrolet redesigned the Silverado for 2014 it took a conservative approach with the styling and stuck with a traditional steel frame and body. The Silverado 1500 shares its platform with the GMC Sierra 1500, but there are significant styling differences to appeal to shoppers with different tastes. Competitors include the Ram 1500, Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra. The Silverado comes in regular-cab, double-cab and crew-cab body styles, and cargo-box lengths range from 5 feet 8 inches to 8 feet.
For truck buyers who need to tow 20,000 pounds or more there are 2500HD and 3500HD heavy-duty versions of the Silverado, which were updated last year.
