no stars would be better.

no stars would be better. I was added as a cosigner for a preapproval online. We received an answer that day and thought that was the end of it. Since then this company has continued running my credit through lenders now a month later and have screwed up my credit score because of all the hard inquires now making it impossible to get approved for a car loan. the car place that wanted to sell me a car got an approval and now because of CARMAX they are rejecting it. I did not give them permission to keep running my stuff a month later and now they've xxxxed both our stuff up completely with a massive number of inquiries.

Service leaves much to be desired

After purchasing the car it is clear that various pieces of equipment have not been inspected as Carmax claimed. When you need repairs the next day suddenly they can't do anything because they work with a different company that actually deals with the car. Would not recommend and would not purchase with Carmax again. Their inspection process which is supposed to help buyers seems to be a sham.

Issues with Finance Department

A mixed experience. I like my car, salesperson was very helpful. I had major issues with finance, they incorrectly calculated the total amount I owed on my trade in by $1400. I understand mistakes happen, but the finance department was extremely rude and completely unapologetic about their mistake.

No pushy sales reps and that was great. Blah. Blah

The first girl that helped me was not helpful at all. She just stared at herself in the window, swinging her hair in the reflection. Then left me outside to look at vehicles by myself while she talked bad about another employee. Ugh.... BUT the man who took over was great. He has been working there a long time and is perfect at his job. He has integrity and that is the best trait in a sales rep. Very helpful and has a wonderful personality even if he was stressed.

Don't try to trade in a car here

We bought a Buick Enclave here several years ago and were very satisfied, so we thought we would try again to replace a sedan. Again, excellent treatment by the salesperson and test drove a Cadillac while they appraised my BMW 740Li, a really sharp car, IMO. Man, the offer for my car was so low I actually felt extremely insulted. I had done my research on various car appraisal sites, and took into account the condition and age of the car, not even including in my submission several nice options that my car had. The CarMax appraiser wrote down "ok" on every point on their checklist except noting paint chips on the hood (I drive it to Santa Fe twice a week, expected damage), but even that I had taken into account for the car's condition when getting my own appraisals. They offered HALF what those other sites suggested. The appraiser didn't even talk with me, the salesperson did, giving excuses about the car's mileage and age. But I had taken those factors into account on those other websites! So I told the salesperson that was a deal killer and walked away. Again, the buying experience there is very good, but just don't expect to get anywhere close to a reasonable offer for your trade in. So unless I'm buying a car without a trade in, I won't go back there.

Management and Steven Laird

Worst experience I've ever had dealing with a car dealership. Employees are awful at handling customers and sales. Should also be up front about insurance companies you won't deal with, and policies concerning things like insurance deductibles. Asked for a manager after Steven Laird (Salesman) literally xxxxed up the entire experience. Management was even worse. Bought my Sonic from CarMax years ago, but today you lost a family that buys cars from the same place.

Could not get a call back from service manager

Bought a Hyundai Sonata from a Carmax outside of NM and was assured by that Carmax Dealer that ABQ Carmax would make the repairs when I got home. Drove 2.5 hours to have work done, no repairs or response from service mgr. to my questions. If you ever buy a car from Carmax, make sure to have everything done before taking possession for your vehicle.

GREAT EXPERIENCE

I have bought 2 cars from the Car-max in Albuquerque, NM. I have had a great experience both purchases and would highly recommend anyone shopping there. I appreciate the extra effort the manager made when my license would not scan because my dog got a hold of it. Thank you Car-manx

CarMax - nice cars, but lowballers on trade-ins.

The facility is very nice and the atmosphere is definitely low pressure. The prices are on the high side for new cars, which they justify by saying the cars are thoroughly inspected prior to being sold. The prices are set - no haggling. My only problem with them is they seriously lowballed us on our trade in - I was expecting an offer that would let them make a profit on our trade in, but they were at least four thousand under a conservative Blue Book trade in value. I may go back if I sell my car on my own, but I won't be bringing in a trade.
