Unhappy buying experience

by from Vero Beach FL |

I ordered a new RX Hybrid in January with some special features. The then-Sales Manager was confident that it would arrive before we left Florida on May 1 for our summer home, and promised to deliver it to our Northern address at the dealership's expense if it didn't, since we planned to drive it north and leave our other car in Florida. Well, it didn't arrive until mid May, after we had driven home in the other car. When the car finally arrived and I inquired about the shipping arrangements, the new General Manager refused to honor the commitment. He insisted that the only way that I could get the car that I had ordered was to ship it North at my expense (or go down to Florida at my expense and drive it North). I like the car, but that is to the credit of the manufacturer, not the dealer. So, if I were you, I'd use caution in sales transactions. In contrast, I've been satisfied with the service department for my older Lexus.

Mr. Glynn, We are very sorry to hear that your experience with our dealership was less than "Lexus-like." Your order did take longer than usual due to the change in model years from 2014 to 2015. Your vehicle was built as a model year 2015 instead of a 2014, which is what was ordered. Due to the length of time you had to wait from January to May, Lexus of Melbourne agreed to sell you the 2015 for the same deal as the 2014, regardless of current incentives. There was some confusion regarding the shipping. The former-Sales Manager that arranged for shipping to your home had arranged for transport to the only address we had on file; Vero Beach. Knowing there were several misunderstandings possibly on both ends, Lexus of Melbourne agreed to refund your deposit 100% with no questions asked, which we did. When you contacted our dealership almost a month later inquiring about wanting to purchase the same vehicle, we were happy to sell it to you at the same deal we agreed to originally. We had our Salesperson deliver the car down to your Vero Beach address, and everything seemed to be fine and happy. If you are still upset, we encourage you to call our Owner/General Manager, as we want all of our customers to be happy with not only their purchase, but with the level of service received, and our relationship. We do appreciate your business. Kind regards, Lexus of Melbourne

Follow up to previous posting

by from Titusville, Florida |

Following my contacting the General Manager I received a phone call from the Service Manager. They apologized for my experiences and took my comments as constructive criticism. In addition they refunded a portion of my charges as they had overcharged me for the work performed. I'm feeling much better since they followed up. Rob

Very dissapointed

by from Titusville, Florida |

Very disappointing service visit. We purchased a used 2011 LS460 L from a non Lexus dealer in Pompano early march 2014. I had visited Lexus of Melbourne previously but they did not have a pre-owned LS460 that met my desires. Car was still under warranty with only 27,000 miles and 18 months left. Lexus of Melbourne is the nearest dealer to us so we assumed they would be our service provider. The car only came with one key so I did some research and a new key from the dealer would be approximately $250+ at the dealer. Lexus internet forums said you could buy a key from Ebay for $50 and have the car programmed to accept the key. I did this and we took the car and key to the dealer. The service person stated that they had tried this several times with keys that had been used with other cars and it had not worked. They tried and I was told it didn't work and the only way was to buy a new key which they had to order. A couple days later I pulled the actual procedure from the internet and discussed it with the service person prior to sending my wife to the dealer. This is a factory documented procedure. The procedure was to program the car as if it had lost all the keys and reprogram to accept the new keys. They agreed to try. This worked when they followed my instructions. Now I leave it to you to decide if they were just plain ignorant about their cars or they wanted to sell a new key to make more money. Either way it is a poor reflection on the dealer. When questioned about why this service is not known about or provided my wife was told " it is risky messing with the cars computer and they don't like doing it". WOW a factory dealer running a factory program and they are worried about interfacing with the computer. The charge was $120. Also, the oil change light had just come on as my wife was driving to the dealer so she called me. I told her to ask them to reset it for us. She was told " we don't like resetting the oil change reminder without doing the oil change because the engine is $30,000 and no one should be changing the oil that doesn't know how to reset it.". WOW again. How very condescending. Never mind they don't know I am an engineer, built and maintain two racecars including building the engines, and have changed oil on my own cars for 30 years. It is as easy as pushing the odometer trip button and turning the key to the on position and holding for 3+ seconds. Yes I know how to do it and how to change the oil but since she was already there I "ASSUMED" they would be kind enough to do it for my wife. After lecturing her they reset the light. The oil was changed at 27,000 miles and it now has less then 30,000 miles so the cleanliness of the oil was not an issue. If they were concerned they should have asked if the oil had been recently changed. I could have told them. I see that the dealer has responded to almost all of these reviews. I look forward to their response. I used my actual name so they can not claim I was not a customer. I expected more from a high end dealership. I will likey be looking at service at the Lexus of Winter Park or a Toyota dealer in the future.

Wonderful Experience

by from Orlando, FL |

I conducted most of my negotiation by phone and email. I had already driven the car at another dealership that did not work with me and wanted to give me an unreasonable amount for my trade. Kevin Dardano, Sales Consultant, was courteous and respectful. He did his job as a salesperson; however, he did not infringe on my wishes, desires, and decisions. Once I arrived at the dealership, Kevin made my buying experience painless. Jorge Mendez, Business Director, made every effort to make the deal happen. It something appeared it may be a deal breaker, he found a way to make things happen to make me happy. I did not have to haggle at this dealership. I told them my bottom line and they told me whether they could make it happen. I purchased the car I wanted and am happy with the purchase experience.

Hi John, We appreciate your concern, and we would like to resolve it with you. Your initial inquiry came in blank with no comments or request for quote. We provided general information and starting MSRP. You provided a disconnected phone number, so the only means of contact was e-mail. 5 E-Mails were sent: First one was an intro with MSRP of model. Second was "an unable to reach you" e-mail. Third was an Ebrochure on requested model. Fourth was a follow up on Ebrochure. Fifth was "waiting for your response" e-mail which included best means of communication. We never received a response at all either by phone or e-mail. We would love to provide you with a quote, or give you any information you desire to make a well-informed decision. Please contact us directly at lexussales@lexmel.com or (321) 254-7878. Have a great weekend!

HORRIBLE Salesperson Named TOM HAKIMI

by from Melbourne, FL |

Hello, I talked to TOM HAKIMI, a sales representative of this Lexus of Melbourne. PLEASE Avoid him if you can. I'm not writing this review because I'm angry, more so that people know that there are liars and cheaters out there. This guy tried to cheat me in MANY ways. For example, he talked to me on phone telling me he will give me "x" price off the car I wanted. When i said hey, i'm actually getting a better deal, he said suit your self, don't message me and stop wasting my time. I was already shocked, but the next day he messaged again saying sorry he wrote that to somebody else and sent to me on mistake. Then he said he would beat the previous offer by $2,000 which was the greatest deal I have read about. He made me drive 4+ hours from out of town to come see him and when I go there he said that yeah, that number wasn't realistic and it was just to email me back. I was furious and talked to the manager Don about his behavior. He said this isn't the first time this has happened and Mr. Hakimi was going to be fired previously, but we kept him. I told him that this is disrespectful and I can't believe he would work with someone like this. To a surprise, the manager Don started talking to me in a rude way telling me that don't tell me how to do my job, etc. I would never go here again, nor recommend it. You might get lucky with a salesperson that seems nice, but until you find out they're cheating you, you won't see their true side.

Poor customer service

by from Melbourne, florids |

Very poor service, brought car in for routine maintenance and was charged $900 for things I did not need or ask for. When I got car back, they had used all my gas and non of the work was done. My car sounds like a time bomb and the only solution was to have them tow it to their shop and "if" in their sole option, it was something they had done to make my car rattle, they would fix it, however, if they determined it was not thier fault, I would be charged for parts, labor and towing! This is a 2012 Lexus! Save your money and service your vehicle at a reputable Lexus dealer!!
