Everything I wanted and more

by from Latham NY |

I was on the market for Toyota Venza for few weeks when saw it on Northway Toyota lot. From the very beginning of my experience with Sales at the Northway I was very pleased with knowledge, understanding, and no rush kind of approach. It took me a week of searching thru other dealerships and get very disappointed with results that send be right back to Northway Toyota. There was no other Venza on the market in such impeccable condition. And to add to the great buy; sales people and manager were most understanding and worked out the best and fare deal that I was very happy about. I love my 2011 Venza. And experience that I have at the dealership: no hassling, no annoying calls, fare ( very fare) price. I got everything and more that I wanted in my new (used, but new to me) car. Highly recommend, if you on the market for Tyota, Northway is your dealership.

Exactly What We Wanted

by from Rotterdam, NY |

When I first contacted Northway Toyota via email and asked after a Prius C and gave my price range, I expected to get the same runaround I had gotten from other local dealers, "that's not possible" "your expectations are unreasonable" or my favorite "this isn't how car buying works." None of that runaround happened at Northway Toyota. I came in expecting to look at a car, state my price and either be subject to hours of negotiating or be told "No" right away. What I got was an exceptionally personable sales associate in Mike. We checked out the car, loved it, went back to the sales office and he started looking at numbers and seeing if what I wanted was possible. The complete openness about their current sales was refreshing. There was no secrecy or digging through ads, they provided the ad sheet up front. As a result I did something I never do when buying a car, I gave them the amount I wanted to pay upfront. And they met it completely. No back and forth. No hassle. One meeting with a manger and it was done, a deal better than any nationally advertised. I was shocked and couldn't believe they were this honest. The paperwork flew by and when we came in to pick up the car we were again met with excellent service. I've always viewed buying a car as a challenge, a you vs. the dealer experience that is both frustrating and draining. Northway Toyota brought back the joy of not only going home with a new car, but buying it and feeling great about where you shopped. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with this purchasing experience and I would recommend Northway Toyota to anyone who wants to have fun and enjoy purchasing their next vehicle.

Vehicle on lot was higher price than on cars.com

by from Albany NY |

I used cars.com to research a particular make and model of Toyota I was looking for. Northway Toyota had the most to choose from, so that was my first stop. I had printed up a couple of fact sheets of specific vehicles I wanted to look at, which I gave to the sales person. He pulled the first vehicle up to the front door so I could take a test drive and the vehicle was actually priced several thousand dollars HIGHER than was listed on the cars.com website. I questioned the sales person about this and he told me that they are not affiliated with cars.com and therefore had no control over what the prices were on that site. Other than that I had no problem with the dealership at all. I ended up buying a vehicle there and the overall experience was good.

Lease buyout not a problem...WRONG!!!

by from ballston lake ny |

I leased a 2010 corolla of that year and during that time a work injury and divorce caused financial hardship. Having gone way over on miles I talked to Brittany 5 months before the end of the lease. She hooked me up with Karl the finance guy who said not to worry about anything we will get you a good used car near your monthly payment you have now. Come back when you have 30 days left. When I came back everything was different, I was going to be stuck with the penalty of around $3500 plus whatever else they could tack on for wear and tear and a monthly pmt.that I could not afford! Now time was running out and I asked are there any options I have, can we incorporate the penalty into the price and spread it out over time? He couldn't come up with anything that would work. I told him I was going to check around! "If you can find a better deal good luck" he said! Well guess what Karl, I did and I took it like you said! Trade in and turn in are completely different and something you failed to mention! I will be picking up my car on Saturday! Thank you for the advice! Not only did you lose a sale, you also lost a customer forever!! Maybe you don't care but word of mouth is the best form of advertisement there is!!

What's up with honest accountability?

by from Latham, NY |

Is it unreasonable to ask the dealership to put in writing that they replaced a part on the original factory delivered car before customer takes delivery? I understand it may be an original toyota part and that the warrenty for the new car is still applicable, but still think it is worth putting it in writing that dealership altered original car. If all is ok, why the resistance by Northway to acknowledge the replacement and put in writing so it is on record? Manager was rude and aggressive toward my wife asking "why she was mumbling". Like Toyota, but will give my business to another dealership.

Worst Customer Service EVER!

by from Glenville, NY |

I bought a used Kia Sorento at Northway Toyota (NT) from Bill Stoner in June of '11.Prior to taking possession of the vehicle NT sent it to Lazare Kia on Wolf Rd. for work on the rack & pinion. Lazare Kia did not properly put the nut back on the steering linkage that connected to the steering column. So, literally right after taking possession of the vehicle, I was driving at 70 on the Thruway from exit 24 to 25 my vehicle stalled out (different reason). I was able to get to the side of the road. I called Bill @ NT & explained what happened. He said 'I can come get you but it'll be a while I'm with a customer (you know because he already had my money...so I was no longer a customer?!?!?). He asked if I would pay to have it towed to the dealership & he would see if they would reimburse me!!! Seriously?!?! So I had AAA tow it to Fucillo Kia. The tow truck driver told me after unloading the Kia at Fucillo to have them check the steering. I told him, the steering's fine it had just been fixed. He looked at me & very sternly said...Have them check the steering, it doesn't feel as if you have any steering it was skipping out on me. So the dealership checked the steering & found that the steering column was not attached to the linkage. Thank GOD that my car stalled (a bad sensor, so much for used car inspections?!?!) b/c the steering would have gone with me driving with my 6 & 9-year-olds in the car going 70 on the Thruway. The dealership was not happy the car was at Fucillo (who's AWESOME, their service department is fantastic & Rick in service was great). They tried to take the car from Fucillo even though we verbally told them not to, Fucillo was aware & refused to let them take it. They wanted it at Lazare (who caused this issue in the first place). My point was they had one chance, they almost killed my family & I was not giving them another chance. So with our vehicle we also bought the extended warranty, the Kia only had 27,000 miles on it when we purchased it. The warranty we were sold was presented to us as a bumper-to-bumper warranty. Well, now a year later I have the A/C compressor go, & a few other issues (clock spring, internal issues with the horns, & an electrical issue with the dome light) & the warranty company will not cover anything except for the compressor. Not my idea of a bumper to bumper. I call NT to explain to them that this warranty was presented & sold to me in a very different manner than what I'm experiencing, now that I need to use it. Rudy a manager told me that he didn't believe that the warranty was sold to me in that manner. & that his sales people wouldn't sell it to me that way. I explained that the transaction was already completed, that I'm not looking for anything I'm just calling to explain that this was very discourteous for it to be sold to me in a different manner than what it is. He argued the fact that it was sold to me that way & that my paperwork (which is in the Kia, so I can't review it specifically right now) should tell me exactly what it covers. Rudy then either put me on hold or disconnected my call because he was no longer on the line. With social media & review sites, this really isn't the best way to treat customers ~ past or present. I will be sure to visit every site I can to relay this same message about the horrendous customer service (if you can even call it that) that NT delivers. I will also be sure to submit this to Toyota's corporate office. In the meantime, I did call the warranty company & they informed me that my vehicle qualified (due to the low mileage at purchase) for a higher coverage warranty but the warranty we had was a lower coverage warranty. I am wondering if maybe the higher coverage warranty was presented to us, but the lower coverage warranty is what was given to us....now I have to find out what was actually paid for. Let's hope I got what I actually paid for......

Great environment.

by from Albany, NY |

I am glad I went to Northway Toyota and bought my used car there {2009 kia optima}. I went to test drive with John O' Connor and he was an excellent salesman, honest and not pushing, I was comfortable doing business with him. I must say everyone was friendly, there was no pressure at all, and they listened to my concern and worked with me. One of the salesmen entertained my daughter, Gary K. Test, was showing his fish tank to my 3 years old daughter and having a conversation while I was talking with John O' Connor. I will do business with them again and I will avoid other bad dealers.

GREAT EXPERIENCE

by from corinth, NY |

I trade cars every three or four years. My experience at Northway was the best, friendliest that I have ever encountered. The salesman listened to my needs, made suggestions. Had me drive several different toyota and sion models. He worked with me for several hours. If you are in the market for a new or used car, I reccommend Northway Toyota.
