"For a two liter engine the mileage is terrible, only 23mpg on town and 27 mpg on highway. lots of road noise passes into pasenger compartment. Used one quart of oil in first 3000 miles. headlights out of adjustment on delivery. Lack of power when passing another vehicle."

"I purchased this vehicle new off the lot. The ignition is an auto type where you turn & release the key, took me a bit getting used to, want to turn and hold. I would highly recommend the vehicle. The transmission is CVI where it sounds as if it is severely slipping. Again, it sounds as if. From a dead stop pulling out into traffic, there's a touch of hesitation so give yourself room. In motion the cars accelerates quickly and is responsive to the pedal input; it's not a sports car. The head room is exceptional and one main reason for the selection."

"There might be better cars of this body style. I looked at several others before choosing the Caliber. The Caliber cost less new then many of the 3 year old cars I was looking at. I was not satisfied with my first test drive of the Caliber, because it did not accelerate fast enough merging onto the freeway. Then I tried the bigger 2.4 liter engine and am quite satisfied with its performance. As a driving instructor, I consider this to be an important factor. I am not out for speed, but believe confident acceleration makes for safer driving. I would not recommend the 2 liter engine,in spite of the fact the gas mileage is a little better. I like the little design extras, like the speakers that pull down from the hatch for tailgate parties, etc. Another is the water bottle cooler in the glove compartment area. The seats and riding comfort matches that of luxury cars. I get 23 mpg in city driving and 27 consistently on freeways. Not bad. Going on 5000 miles in 4 months."

"I purchased the vehicle new and am now enjoying it greatly. The comfort level is excellent as I am 6'-1" and have more than adequate room. Vision is no problem and offers peripheral views. Get up from a dead start is a bit slow and the constant mess transmission takes a bit getting used to. It sounds as if the transmission is slipping YET, it pulls strong and continuously. I have been finding unbelievable gas mileage. Storage area is well designed and configured throughout, fold through seat fits golf clubs but, seat has to be down. Sliding console can be annoying but serves the purpose of an armrest storage lid. I am pleased and satisfied with the Caliber and yes I would recommend it to family and friends."

"I have had many cars but this car has the worst transmission I have ever had. It is a two speed with od and I did not know they even had a transmission with 2 speeds in them anymore. The car feels like it should be down shifting or shifting up all the time. The only time it feels decent is when you are on a highway or interstate at a high speed where it is staying in overdrive. Should have reserched the car more."

"This is one of those times when I have to admit that my husband knew what he was doing! I was really REALLY intrigued by the Nissan Versa hatchback, but my husband kept insisting that I look at the Dodge Caliber. I drove both, and the poor Nissan Versa just couldn't compete! I bought a model with a five-speed stick, which is just too much fun in and of itself. However, the shifting is very smooth and forgiving (especially for someone like me who hasn't driven stick for a while). The stick does make a large clunk sound, but as another reviewer noted, this is normal. Something for Dodge to work on! The seats are comfortable, the steering is tight without being restrictive, and the power is amazing on such a small vehicle. I really have to watch because I'm up to 70 mph on the highway without even thinking. Gas mileage has been so-so, right at the EPA for city. I haven't been out on the highway for any extended driving, so I'll wait to make a final judgment. But it's a great car for the money."

"This car is my wife's, but I drive it alot. It is a great car little small inside but for a family of four not bad. Great sound system and drives nice. We bought the bigger engine, and it has enough pep to get out into traffic."

"Last week I became the very proud owner of a 2011 Dodge Caliber Uptown. I am absolutely in love with this car! When I bought it, the car had 12 miles on it and now has 804 (so I have done a decent amount of driving). I have wanted a Dodge for a long time and starting out in the Caliber has made me a Dodge owner for life. The interior is Amazing, seats are VERY comfortable and the back seats even Recline. The back hatch storage is much bigger than I expected. The Audio system in the Dodge Caliber is wonderful, sounds great and has lots of neat features such as sirius satellite! I chose to buy the one with the CVT transmission and at first it kinda freaked me out a little. The car I had before this one was a standard and the first time I tried to Accelerate to pass another vehicle it almost sounded like if i were in my standard and the clutch was going out. After doing a little research I found that this is normal and you just have to get used to it. There isn't anything wrong. Phew right?! I also like that the Caliber sits higher off of the ground than most compact cars or sedans. Seeing as I am 6'1" tall it is most definitely a great feature for me. There is LOTS of leg room in the front as well as in the backseat! I honestly couldnt be any happier. :)"

"I rented a 2011 Dodge Caliber with automatic transmisson for two weeks. It had 7200 miles on it. The gas mileage was nowhere near the 22mpg city it was rated on this site. I averaged only 17-18mpg city driving with the a/c running about half the time. The suspension is reasonable, steering is comfortable with a big steering wheel, the interior is attractive with a fair amount of storage space, and the ground clearance is higher than an average car. I thought the exterior looked rather nice, too. However, I would never buy this car. The whole two weeks the transmission (CVT, apparently) acted terribly. Acceleration was very poor and no matter how hard or soft you stepped on the gas pedal, the car just picked up speed only as fast as IT wanted to. I know 158 hp is not a race car, but cars were always driving around me because I couldn't accelerate at a normal pace. Many times it "bucked" while I was trying to accelerate, even gently. Also, the right passenger window was malfunctioning and couldn't be used. While this car has some positive aspects, I can't recommend it because of the transmission."

"My car is brand new and so far I love it as does my 7 yr old. All of the upgrades don't leave you broke and they are the best thing I have ever had. I have lumbar support for my bad back, heated leather seats, a cooler in the glove box (that is awesome), drop down speakers from the hatch, a subwoffer, so great sound system to enjoy my touch screen sat. radio, I can also copy CD's to hard drive so no more lugging them! It has a flashdrive connector so I can store pics and other music on it!! you can replay songs right off the radio!! It has so many features and is spacious and comfortable and we went smaller from our Sante Fe. But so worth it!!!! Oh, I got the uptown model THE ABSOLUTE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED!! (and I have had 4) LOL If your considering DO IT!!! Everyone from fam and friends that has seen it, love it too."
