Consumer Reviews
"We love driving our new C-Max but is anyone else having problems with Ford? We have "registered" our car 3 times and can't seem to get it to stick. We can not find one thing on the Navigation and can't seem to be able to get it to understand our voice commands (mind u we grew up in so.calif so shouldn't have "accent" problems.) It never takes us the best way we need to go and I'm about to do an "Elvis" on it and shoot it. (Just kidding) Otherwise we love the way it drives, handles and is very comfortable. Occasionally we will have a problem with the tail gate not closing properly but I'm sure it's just an adjustment. We did get conformation that we will get our $1500.00 rebate from the state of Cal. Still don't know about the 2013 tax incentives? We have driven the car approx. 1750 miles and we are getting approx 60mpg. We have done some highway driving which drains the batteries and gives us less gas mileage but still 60mgps not bad! Also wanted to point out I'm 6'4" tall and weigh 320lbs. and have had some recent back surgeries and this is the easiest car for me to get into, and I mean of All cars in this class!.. it's Amazing for me."

"I couldn't really justify a Volt, and I'm not big on GM anyway, so I decided to ditch my Camry Hybrid and get a C-Max Energi. This plug in car is pretty nice, and I like almost everything about it. I'm not getting the rated EV range, or the rated mpg, but it *is* winter here in the midwest, and that's to be expected. There are a lot of nice fetaures, but I think one feature I really didn't need is the foot activated rear hatch. The other hatch functions (self closing, etc) are handier that I thought they would be. The car itself is very good. Now, the bad part which almost ruins the entire experience, is the Navigation system. This may be a problem limited to a portion of a production run, but the Navigation System does not seem to know where the car is. It can get to be as much as 1/2 mile off, and makes the Nav system unusable. Really, you cannot use it. Also, sometimes the Nav system map doesn't even load, and the map doesn't show up at all. I've taken it to the dealer for the problem, but they were instructed by Ford to do nothing. There is some kind of update on the way, but it's been over a month. The rest of the MyTouch system seems very buggy at times, and slow, but the Nav system irritates me so much that the rest of it pales by comparison. Really, something like this should not have gotten past the factory door. It's a black eye for Ford. Other than that, nice car!"

"I recently purchases my C-Max Energi after following it on the internet for 2 years. I traded in 2012 Focus Titanium and was up to date on My Touch and Sync provided by Ford. This is like flying an air plane and is just unbeliveable. I use the electric mode to my advantage making sure I use up the plug-in battery before I return home. Nothing like this on the market and everything as advertised and more. Great Car. I druve about 900 to 1000 miles a week and will use all 3 EV mode different variations"

"We leased a 2013 plug-in C-max Energi early in Jan. We took the only one in local inventory, so ended up with the packed package, with white titanium flake paint. It charges overnight on house current, no special setup needed other than a typical outdoor outlet and an extension cord. The car came with a charger unit with 3 prong plug to connect to you extension cord. If you want to fully charge in 3 hours instead of 7-8 hours, you'll need to pay about $1500 for a unit installation that would do best inside a garage. Not for us, we just plug in overnight and it's been great. Now, Ford says you can go up to 21 miles purely as an Electric Vehicle (EV). First, after charging to 100pct, the battery indicator shows 17 miles only. I have driven the car to and from work (16 mi round trip, few lights, avg 35 mph) as a straight EV, no gas, and not using climate, radio or lights on, just to test it. The 17 miles range it shows on the dashboard is indeed what I end up getting for a range, so I'm not sure where they get 21 miles as a range claim. The interior, being leather in all the Energis, is nice, and the mySync system is pretty neat. Not much to say about our taupe leather interior other than its roomy and looks nice. The Energis have a reduced cargo space compared to the straight Cmax Hybrid, the floor of the cargo hatch is raised for the batteries. If that's a concern for you, compare the two in person. The Energi is super quiet, even when the gas engine kicks in, and has nice suspension so it's a quiet and comfortable ride. The Sony premium stereo system can lay down some serious leg-rattling bass, and the Bluetooth connection to my iPhone is awesome. The backup camera is also great and a real convenience. There isn't a lot of acceleration power---pickup--- in EV mode, but the gas engine has some kick and I tend to go to Auto Hybrid mode while on a highway anyway. Overall, we are pretty pleased with the car. Since electricity is about 10 cents a kWH now, and the batteries hold 7kwh, we figure its about 70 cents in electricity a day to commute. It saves about 150 dollars a month from my other car."

"After test driving a Prius the C-Max is a much better value it has more room, more power, better mileage and more standard features. The interior and controls are laid out better and feel more solid. The Toyota just felt cheap after driving the Ford. The Backup camera is very nice and the 110v accessory outlet is handy. It will go about 20 mi on full electric then the gas engine will kick on but it is so quiet you cannot feel or hear it. With hybrid battery on empty the car will operate just like a normal hybrid (gas engine will only come on when you reach about 40 mile per hour). The included 110v charger and cable will charge from empty to full in about 5 hrs, the 240v level 2 charger will take about 2.5 hrs."
