"Love the way it handles, love the car overall. Very disappointed in the navigation system. Horribly outdate took it right back to dealership. They were stunned our 5 week old car has the outdated navigation system and no updates available. Waste of money. Not getting near the 47 mpg advertised. Seems like false advertising. Have 4000 miles and still getting around 40 mpg if we do not run the heat."

"My only disappointment is the gas mileage. I have driven the car about 1100 miles and my gas mileage is in the low 30s. Great ride, nice large front window, plenty of body and headroom. The owners manual needs to be improved. It is not very user friendly. The car is so new and so technical, that many of the sales reps and mechanics could not answer all my questions. Ford should offer tutorials On?line for new car owners."

"Have had my c-Max about a week and am getting average of 42mpg which is pretty darn good. Not the 47 advertised but I'm still in the breaking in period. Except for a few software glitches with the mysync it is a great car. The road noise is minimal (I do a lot of highway driving). It is a lot of fun to drive and quite roomy. Had a backup camera put in after market and it shows on the myFord touch window and much less cost than the manufacturer package."

"This will be a strange review in that the vehicle is outstanding with regard to comfort, quality, style and "electronic conveniences". The MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT is the promise of 47MPG AND BARELY DELIVERS 35MPG!! This is not an isolated incident related to my driving abilities; I spoke with the dealership sales manager where the car was purchased and he confirmed that the demo he was driving is delivering similar results. They have also received other complaints. Not recommended if MPG is your main goal!"

"Did a lot of research into the hybrid market and we picked the best one of the lot. I am 6'6" my wife 5'10" and our shortest kid is 5'9" (2 others over 6' tall) and we all fit into this vehicle. Traded in a gas guzzling pig Escalade ESV costing me $5000/year in gas and so far, the wife is getting around 42 mpg on this baby !! This car will pay for itself in gas savings within 3 years !! Spirited ride for a 4-cylinder hybrid. You won't be disappointed. Too soon to tell regarding reliability although we put about 25,000 miles per year on a car."

"I spent a long time researching this car. I wanted a car with some cool features and very good mpg. I was comparing this to the Escape and Mazda CX-5 more than the prii due to my height requirement (I'm tall and load a small child into the car several times a day). The features I like the most are ECO cruise, EV+, keyless entry and start, the driver info screens that show when I'm charging from engine, sony sound, and My ford touch Nav specifically screen 3 that shows what's at the exits ahead (that is so handy with a little one and every potty break is an emergency.) I've gotten much better mpg than would have been possible in either of those vehicles. I drive very conservatively and am getting 46mpg on the average. That's with an average day time temp under 50 for the past month. The worst mpg I've gotten so far is 39 and that was with freeway driving above 65mph."

"I can not answer the last two questions, reason being, not owned long enough. According to the reviews I have been reading the last two questions will be answered as time goes on. Right now it looks like I purchased a lemon. If you want to send this review later on, I will be happy to express my opinion at that time."

Great Hybrid for a Modern Family

"Needed a peppy, economical, functional car for daily commuting, errands and occasional pleasure trips. The Ford C-Max meets all our needs and holds 4 adults in comfort. Cabin head, shoulder and legroom is terrific, even for a big person (I'm 6'-3" and 235 lbs!) and the front and side visibility is great. We chose the SEL model for the heated leather seats, navigation system and features like built-in hands-free voice activated phone interface. The automatic rear hatch open and close function is pure genius! Good room under hatch for groceries or short trip luggage for two -- fold down rear seats flat and you triple cargo area for larger items. The dash and cockpit controls are logical and clear. The super quiet electric motor pulls the car around city streets very smartly and when you need it, the gas engine puts full 188 hp into play with no hesitation for plenty of power while passing or merging. Street parking is easy with a rear assist camera, but the proximity beeper gives ample (maybe too ample) warning. The C-Max has solid construction and good handling. Regenerative breaks take an hour or two to get used to, but feel natural after a few drives. Our gas/electric (tank takes 13 gallons of regular for 600+ mile range/tank) milage is up to 38 - 42 mpg (all city stop and go so far) and improving as we are learning new driving habits and are still in the extended break-in period common to hybrid vehicles. Even if we never hit Ford/EPA estimates of 47mpg, still 3X better than our old Volvo and as good as other hybrids with less power and fewer features. WE LOVE THIS CAR!"

"Very pleased with the C-Max. Very solidly built and very good detail engineering. Ford got so many of the little things right and in spite of critical comments I've heard about Microsoft Sync it works very well and is intuitive. We have noticed that at highway speeds the voice recognition can have problems. The hybrid system works well and is smooth and nearly seamless. We are currently getting around 38mpg in mixed urban, suburban and freeway driving. We have gotten greater than 50mpg on some urban errands, but I doubt one would get 47mpg highway unless you held the speed to 55-60mpg. I think for longer highway cruises mileage in the mid-30's is probably more realistic for most drivers."
