Consumer Reviews
"I found my Ford Escape 2008 on Cars.com. I truly LOVED shopping on Cars.com, so much easier. Not trying to endorse them, just saying, for me, was the BEST way to shop for my car. I went to the dealer after finding it on cars.com, test drove the vehicle I wanted, and made the purchase within a week. As for my vehicle and my ratings. I scored the comfort a 4 out of 5 stars, because I don't have leather seats. I'm sure it would be better with leather. As for the interior being 3 out of 5 stars... at first, I was overwhelmed at the gadgets, but then after a few days, I was like, this interior is really basic inside. I'm sure a 2009 or 2010 has all the bells and whistles, but it's really basic in the 2008. Nothing important was left out, just no reason to be overwhelmed or overly impressed. Now, I did get the vehicle I wanted, and I am so happy I made the Escape purchase. LOVE this vehicle. I've had the car 3 months now, and I love getting in it to drive. This is my first Ford, and first SUV. I would make this deal again in a heartbeat. You too will love your new Ford Escape. I bought mine with 29k miles on it, and I truly feel the engine is amazing, quiet, and runs smooth. Nice engine in this vehicle. I purchased the 3.0L v6 engine, front wheel drive. Didn't want 4WD to save on gas. It's just another FWD vehicle in the snow, however, how many days a year are we really talking that I need a 4WD in Kansas City? FWD was the right purchase for me. Again, Cars.com and 1 other site is what I used to find my vehicle, but of course, I found it and many others to compare, right here on cars.com."

"I traded in my BMW X3 for the 2008 Ford Escape. I was hesitant at first, since I have never owned a Ford. However, from the test drive to 3 years later, I have LOVED my SUV!!!! Sharp looking with lots of storage space...and believe me, I have tested it many times by stuffing all kinds of things inside of it!! Drives and handles smoothly with great pick-up when trying to change lanes. Love the one touch sunroof and driver window. Also, gotta love the driver's seat. It electronically moves to so many positions. I am 5'11 and I have plenty of leg and head room."

"We have had this SUV for a couple months now. It seems built well. Is is good on gas for a V6 (20ish MPG) drives well and is very good in the snow. God knows we have had enough of it in New England this winter. Only real negative is the seats stain extremely easily. They will need covers before long. otherwise , its comfortable, fairly powerful, sure footed, easy to drive vehicle. My wife would take this over her Pathfinder any day."

"My Ford Escape has been a great vehicle. The price was right, its very practical, looks good and is reliable. It handles well in the snow even without 4x4. I bought this truck and intend on paying it off and keeping it. My two large dogs fit nicely in the back, the seats fold flat. the back window opens and my dog likes to look out the back . Its roomy for groceries and taking trips. I totally recommend this vehicle for its all around value."

"Its been great owning the Escape. It gets around 30 MPG on the highway and has never failed me. I do wish I had the power of the V6, but the I4 is satisfactory."

"currently have 58k on it. I was rear-ended when 6 months old. $14000 dollars in damages and I walked away without a scratch. Computer control kept car in lane. Excellent repair job so I'll keep it. Reliable and I have no trouble towing a small boat. I'm 6'7" and I have alot of room."

"Overall the Ford Escape is a really nice SUV. I have the V6, 4WD. The V6 is great. Excellent pickup and drives smooth. Fuel economy is not as good as I expected but still not bad for a V6-4WD SUV! Does a lot better compared to other SUVs. Seats are comfortable but they show stains really bad especially the light interiors. It makes the vehicle seem dirty. Cargo and interior space is as good as any of the other SUVs in its class. Overall I think you get a great bang for your buck with the 2008 Escape. Some minor things could be improved but overall it's a really nice SUV I think by far the nicest one from that model year."

"I can't explain strongly enough how terrible this vehicle is. 65k miles on mine, I drive a lot for work, mostly highway. The seats stain from rain (do a search for Ford Escape seat stains), the AC condenser was replaced (warranty luckily), the battery just died at 2.5 yrs old (my previous Xterra lasted 6+ years), the rear hatch window button does not work, there is a new oil leak, and a couple of belts snapped at about 50k miles. Luckily I got a good price on this when no one was buying SUVs but I can't wait to get rid of it. I wanted to like Ford but I'll being going back to Nissan or Toyota."

"The redesigned Ford Escapes are amazing. I thoroughly compared the Escape to the Honda (2 different comparable models) the Chevy Equinox, the Saturn Vue, Pontiac Vibe (?I think thats there comparable version of Equinox). I did not compare to the Mercury version of the Escape. Pros - The layout was perfect, ceiling is high, gives you impression of lots of space and easy to look around. The back is large and allows for ease of packing things from grocerys to Labradors. I love the stereo, sunroof, Ipod connector, storage and 2 cig lighters (radar detector and cell phone power supply). I ABSOLUTELY HATE the 4 cyclinder. It is underpowered as evidenced by cruise control on highway. It keeps downshifting whenever there is a head wind or a slight hill because the car slows to the point that cruise control cant speed you back up without going down out of overdrive. This is very hard on gas and so have to leave cruise control off. I wish I bought the 6 cyl. The slight bit of gas increase would have been worth it, not just for cruise control but also just normal acceleration."
