"I bought this car with 100000 miles on it back in 2005 for $1500. So far, i have put 43000 miles on it with no major problems. Just replacing engine oil regularly and brakes when needed is all it takes for this little baby to get you everywhere you want to go with no worries. Average mileage is ~26mpg combined driving with normal acceleration. Car has been so good to me, that i'm gonna drive it `till it dies and that (according to the state the car is in) won't be soon."

"I drove this car for 9 years and 110,000 miles and I would have driven it for longer but a kid spun out in the snow and slammed into me head on and then I hit a tree head on. For such a major accident in such a small car I walked away with only bumps and bruises. Had very few issues with this car. New trany at about 50,000 but it was covered under waranty and it leaked/burned break fluid and we could never figure out why. I had such good luck with this car that I had two family members get the same one and they have all been just as happy. Great for new drivers and people who need an affordable and reliable car. Highly recommended."

"We have had the wagon version since 2000/22,000miles. Great 2nd car/vehicle for the kids. It has held up well: We now have 102,000 miles on it and have had only routine service performed. Not a chick magnet/street racer, but it always starts, plenty of room to haul stuff around, no rust. Seats can be uncomfortable on long distance runs."

"I bought this car new and would say it is the worst car I ever owned! Around 50,000 miles the repairs just kept coming and coming; injector failures, cooling failures, tensioner pulleys, A/C failures, poor gas mileage, etc. The service engine light was always on for one reason or another. The car was even particular with brands of gas and would throw the engine light and run very rough like it had square tires. The interior was tight (wagon), in the winter I froze my feet off despite winter boots. I strictly followed the dealer maintainence plan. I figure I spent $7000 in repairs over the years. Benefits? Short wheel base, exterior styling. At 90,000 miles and the start of a rough trani, I traded in this beast before the next bill hit."

"i have a 97 escort sw, my only real complaint is the seats are not real comfy. seems to be dependable. the car handles well, brakes about average. the car won't win many races, on the other hand you can pass alot more gas stations. fuel economy has surpased my expectations. even in near zero degree temps i got around 26 mpg. in the warmer weather i get low to mid 30 mpg. i've owned the car about a year. it now has about 71k miles. bought the car it had about 56k miles. tonight the exhaust system went, but that kinda of stuff is expected."
