"I bought my 1998 Escort with 110,000 miles on it. We just past the 206,000 mark, and it just keeps on running. The only repairs have been tie rod ends, an alternator, and a timing belt. This is the best car I've ever owned for overall economy and reliability."

"I originally bought this car new in 98. Never had any major maintenance to do. Routine was all done to keep it going. Some minor glitches here and there. But it runs great, gets excellent gas mileage, and has been very reliable. I would recommend this to anyone as a first car."

"I drove this car till it literally was busted. It was my first car and I just traded it in with 111,000 miles on it. I got it when I was 16, so I didn't exactly drive it gentle for the first 2 years or so and being in college away from home I drove it a lot and it still ran great. It was just at the age where things start to go wrong and it was going to cost more to fix than the car was worth. Even with that many miles, I only had one mechanical problem the entire time I owned it which was I had to buy a new alternator 2 years ago. Not too bad for a little escort."

"We had the 5 speed manual transmission for about 3 years, and loved it. Very fun and zippy. Also great on gas. Mechanically we had some problems out of it, a thermostat and a alternator. Still one of our favorite cars."

"If I have to single phrase to describe the car it would be "Value for money" car. The car does not have any major mechanical problems and drives very well. The power is excellent and AC is pretty cold even in these summer days."
