"I bought my 2001 Sport Trac used in 2003 with 40k miles on it. I now have almost 173k miles on it, and it is still running great. This truck has been on every kind of terrain in the continental US, and handles itself very well. Other than regular maintenance (tires, shocks, brakes, a couple batteries, and oil), I have only had one required repair -- the thermostat... which cost me $140 all in. Dependable is an understatement. Beware of the ball joints in the front end of this year model which were not done correctly. I've not fixed mine... probably a $1000+ job. I added a KN airfilter which improved the gas mileage a little, but improved the horsepower a lot in the mid and upper RPM ranges. I can get about 300 miles in the city and about 365 on the interstate. I am about to get a new(used) vehichle with more airbags since we have a 6 month old now, but i'm not sure I will be able to bring myself to sell this truck. The utility of this design is unmatched. Sport Trac was a pioneer (along with Frontier) of many similar designs you see on the road today. I think the Sport Trac was the best of breed."

"Great vehicle! Very well made and comfortable. My only issue with this truck is the poor gas mileage. I get 17mpg after changing filters and running my tires at 34psi. At $4.00 per gallon, that is painful. The 4wd walks through anything, and I love the power rear window and bed cover."

"I bought my truck used with 92K on it. I have it to this day with 110K on it. I absolutley love my truck and don't regret a penny that I have spent towards it. I have had it for 3 yrs and the only thing that I put into it was a stereo, tires, brake pads and now i need ball joints but that's what you get when you have truck with this kind of milage. I have taken trips with my friends as far as 3 hrs away from my home and the truck is absoluley amazing. i have towed dirt bikes, boats and quads with it. It rips through the snow and handles great in the rain. It was my first truck and the best car I could've gotten. The only thing that's a downfall is the size of the backseat. There isn't much confort room for passengers in the back. But it's a small truck so thats what you get when you purchase a small vehicle. I deffinatley recommend this truck to anyone looking. If i were to ever get another pick up truck, it would deffinatley be a newer sport track!!"

"I have lots of trucks, and the best and most useful is my Sport Trac. I have the use a a five passenger vehicle along with the ability to haul what I need. Tows great and handling is perfect. No roll or sloppiness. This model year is a bit heavy on the gas usage, but I understand that was taken care of the next year. I would recommend and buy this truck again and again. There is not a single negative that I can think of with this truck. Just drive one and see. So dependable that it is scary. This is my first six-cylinder vehicle (I am a V-8 junkie) and I am impressed."

The Best Vehicle I've Ever Owned...

"This truck was great. The ratings are for comfort as the seating is a bit stiff and small at times, especially for a tall person, but the reliability is stupendous! The truck has given me very little trouble in the almost 25k and 2 years that I've owned it. (Now at 98k) Mine is lifted too, with 33's and a 6" lift, and it still operates great and handles well...the bad side is the turning radius...this isn't just the lift, as I've driven regular height ones and they all seem to turn really wide...which with a lift requires three points on a daily basis...not always so fun in a city setting... Despite the lift, with my KN Supercharger, I get great mileage, around 250 city and about 300-325 on the highway, as long as speeds stay under 80mph. the truck is stable, solid, and can haul about anything! I've several times loaded it to limit to the roof, the insides, and the bed, and it still amazes me how much a trooper it really is! I don't really like the bling bling the new ones look, but they are luxurious! Of course, with that you face scratching the baby, and cussing a storm. I like that mine is rugged, plain, like a truck should be, but has nice lines that accent the side, and with the height, it looks really cool! Good Job Ford!"

"I have had this truck for 7 years now. This truck is versatile. I have used it to tow trailers with motorcycles, transport my canoe, and move heavy cargo in the bed. Remove the bolts in the back seat and wala - more cargo rome... This truck is truly a jack of all trades. The bed is very convenient and the bed cover is a must. The only thing that lacks a little is the bed length. This truck is no speed demon, but it is not built for that. The only gripe I have is that it does not come with the roof rail cross bars. This is a pricey item to get. Overall, this truck is great... A true workhorse. I would recommend this truck to anyone."
