2014 Ford Fiesta
Starting MSRP $14,000–$21,400
The Fiesta is Ford's subcompact car available in four-door sedan or four-door hatchback body styles. Restyled for 2014, two new optional engines are available with one boosting gas mileage and the other boosting performance. The Fiesta competes with the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa and Hyundai Accent.
The Fiesta continues to offer upscale features in the subcompact segment like heated leather seats, push-button start and voice-activated multimedia systems. Many other subcompacts have yet to incorporate those pricier features in entry-level cars. A high-performance Fiesta ST model is offered.

New for 2014
The 2014 Fiesta wears new front styling similar to the redesigned 2013 Ford Fusion, but what's most significant is under the hood in the form of two new optional engines. A turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine aims to offer better gas mileage, and the performance-oriented Fiesta ST uses a much more powerful turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder. The interior also gets minor updating, and now offers Ford's MyFord Touch touch-screen multimedia system as an option.
A redesigned front end mimics the styling of the redesigned Ford Fusion. Most notable is the upright grille and more pronounced nose, which replaces a more rounded look in the previous Fiesta. The remainder of the exterior is relatively unchanged.
A newly available option for 2014 is the MyFord Touch touch-screen multimedia system with 6.5-inch display mounted on top of the center dashboard. Like other applications, the Fiesta's MyFord Touch uses touch controls in the place of traditional buttons, however many of the Fiesta's climate controls and heated seat buttons are kept as push- or toggle buttons.
Ford's MyKey system is also newly available so parents can limit the vehicle's speed and audio levels for young drivers.
Under the Hood
The Fiesta's base 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and transmission options carry over unchanged. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic is optional.
A turbocharged 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine is available for the first time and has estimated mileage of 40-plus mpg on the highway. The anticipated mileage is high enough that Ford expects the Fiesta to be the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid subcompact available. The 1.0-liter will pair with a five-speed manual transmission.
The most powerful engine offered in the Fiesta comes in the ST performance trim level detailed below.
The Fiesta is equipped with seven airbags: dual-stage front airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags to cover the side windows along front and rear seats, and a driver's knee airbag, which protects the driver's legs and helps prevent them from sliding forward, making the other restraints less effective. Additional standard safety features include:
- Electronic stability system
- Antilock brakes
A new high-performance Fiesta ST joins the lineup with a 197-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Using the ST name like the Fiesta's bigger Focus sibling, the Fiesta ST features more aggressive exterior styling and performance enhancements. A unique suspension with lowered ride height is part of the equation, as are chassis stiffening and 17-inch wheels. The Fiesta ST is only available with a manual transmission and as a four-door hatchback. It is expected to achieve up to 34 mpg. Back to top.
