"I purchased this car less than 3 months ago. Last month I was involved in a crash that was less than 5 mph. The impact was hard enough to knock the hat and sunglasses off my face. Not only that, but the car had to be totalled. It completely crushed the bumper, knocked the radiator into the engine, broke some of the motor mounts, and also crushed the stabilitay bars behind the bumper. I will never purchase another Ford vehicle again. The bodies are made of cheap plastic junk."

"I purchased this car for my wife. The car I believe is under priced for what you get. I can seat five people and all are comfortable. I believe this car is right up there with the Lincoln. the only proplem with the car is that the engine is under powered. Way under. Too bad Ford changed the name. A little like what they did with the Ford Probe when needed a new body for the Courger. I can not understand why Ford doesn't have more ads on this car. It should be an outatanding seller."

Driven 30K + on this car already

"I drive this car over 30K miles a year to work and I love it. I drive all highway miles anywhere from 70 to 80 mph and am very comfortable with over 2 hours each day spent in the 500. Trunk space is huge and the sitting up higher is great since my last commute vehicle was a 3/4 ton truck. My only complaints are that it isn't the best in snow and the engine could have more take off power especially if you compare the 500 to the new Chevy Malibu. I really like the CVT, just rock steady with no shift points. I recently hit a deer and the car held up well mechanically (for wasting a large buck at 75 mph.) I realize how nice a car the 500 is since my loaner is a base model Ford Focus."

"The Ford Five Hundered is by far one of the most comfortable cars I have dirven in and own/ed. Passengers in the back seat fit have plenty of room. The trunk has enough room to fit all your grocires from costco without the need to fold dwon the seats. The power is moderate nothing to special but very effiecent. Handling is a breeze; and the mileage is anywhere around 20/22 city to 24/27 highway. For the comfort, and features the Ford 500 is difinitely a good deal for the buck."

"Somewhat under powered. Would like to experince better gas milage, should be in the middle to high twenties.. Poor rear window visa-bility due to obstruction obstruction in front of mirror. Numerical entrance a fine idea. The center console could be a little lower."

The reason ford is #3 in the U.S. and falling

"Love the ample room in the trunk and cabin. That would be pretty much it though. It's interior is decently designed but with too much plastic and cheap materials. Performance was strong thanks to that six speed auto borrowed from the mazda6. Engine was harsh not very smooth at all. Drove okay but wasn't exactly a car you could drive for hours. Biggest complaint was that it is a hollow car. I leaned my knee against the rear bumper while taking something out of the trunk and the bumper caved in. I couldn't imagine what would happen if it was ever in a accident. Doors are hollow you can just tell from the sound they emit when shutting them. Overall a step up for ford but nearly close enough to help sinking company. P.S. Why do I see people saying "I've driven 10,000 miles on it, its great, its so reliable!" Any foreign car I ever owned i kept for at least 200,000+. Maybe since I am a mechanical engineer I notice even the smallest thing when it comes to automobiles, so for me the Ford five hundred just gives me a headache with all its imperfections."

"Before owning my silver ford five-hundred, i owned a black toyota camry. i was very pleased with my toyota..loved it, ws reliable, etc...it was a 99 and things were happening at over 100,000 miles, and was looking for a new car. i was going to renew my loyalty to toyota, but someone asked me why i didn't buy american. i explained that my parents had such wonderful things to say about toyota, and had seen other "negative" things about other cars, that i was sticking to what was good. it was a big investment and i couldn't afford mishaps! well, this friend talked me into at least test driving. i was impressed with the fusion... then i saw the pricing of a 500 (basic) and sat in that car... and was impressed. took it for a test drive and i loved it hook line and sinker! this car is smooth, roomy, gets good mileage and i feel soooo sfe in it. love the safety rating. i understand that people say it is "plain" but so what. everyone i've run into who has a 500 LOVES their car too. some of us aren't impressed with all the hoopla anyways! i want reliable. i love it's classic look. take a good look at the 500...it is a nice looking car on the exterior. i went with silver because it is so easy to keep clean! the black is SHARP looking, and i recall on several occasions doing a double take on the 500, wondering what kind of car it was. surprised it was a Ford. kids love the car, too. they call it "the sedan." it is smooth and safe. it doesn't need all the "hoopla" to be impressive. Ford got this one right. it got back to what is important in a car. why "hide" the beauty of a car with all the other things. mileage, handling, safety, comfort, easy views out the windows...all very important. LOVING THIS CAR!!!"

"If you're just one of those people who has to buy an American vehicle...here is the one for you. I am a Japanese car loyalist and I was shocked at the quality and comfort of this car. It was huge inside and picked up on speed great when I needed it to. It doesn't even drink a lot of fuel for a car this size. So if you don't want to check out that Avalon head on over to your Ford dealer. I'm sure you will enjoy."

"As a pickup and former sport utility driver, I was impressed by the seating and visability, as well as ease of access. At 6'3 I found many mid-size cars awkward, and in some cases downright painful, to enter and exit. The 500 drives quietly and instills confidence. The interior is luxurious and spacious. Power is sufficient for a car in this class. Overall, I think Ford did their homework on this one."
