"For the age vehicle still in good shape and style hasn't changed a lot over the years more interested in mileage and mpg than anthing else. Seems like a good compromosize for a small budget"

"For a 12 year old truck with 136,000 miles on it I consider it a fair value for the money. The interior was pristine almost showroom fresh. The exterior shows its 12 years wear but no debilitating rust. I bought it for its trucking capabilities which I feel that it will carry out very well."

"I've owned this truck for six months now (3rd. owner) and it runs great! The only thing I've replaced on it was the oxygen sensors---the originals were still on the truck (10 years old) and the U-joints. Yes, the gas mileage was brutal at first---14 or 15 miles to the gallon, but I bought an air intake system and now get about 18 or 19 miles to the gallon consistently---that's on a 4.0 liter 4x4, off road package. I also noticed a horsepower increase. Other than my one modification and regularly changing the oil (every 3,000 miles), I have no complaints about the truck whatsoever. I will mention that the horsepower isn't superb due to the fact that the 2000 ford ranger still incorporated the OHV engine instead of the SOHC engine (2001-present). As for the interior, in my opinion it is very comfortable (extended cab). I am 6' 2" and fit into this cab with about 4 inches to spare, so no worries if you are tall and concerned about fitting in this vehicle. As for other features, my truck is 2 door. I would highly recommend trying to find a four door due to back seat accessibility issues. If you want a small truck, don't need to rocket off from a standing position, and need a reliable engine, then a Ford Ranger is right for you."

"v-6, 3liter, flex fuel xlt extend cab ranger is a terribly designed vehicle. Numerous transmission problems starting at 80,000 miles. Frequency of repairs plus low mpg makes the overall cost very expensive."

"I bought this truck, a 2000 XLT, 2WD, 4 dr, extended cab, 5 spd, 3.0 V6, in 2002, from an Enterprise Rentacar dealer. It has 178,000 miles on it, and all I have EVER done is tires, brake pads, plugs, and oil changes and radiator flushes (2). It has the original battery on it, it routinely tows 2-4,000 lbs. and the only mod is a K&N air filter. The CD player still works, and it gets 20-26 mpg, except towing 2 tons about 19. The air still blows cold, and the limited slip will climb a tree. I am religious about the oil changes, and I do put Bosch plugs in it. But you talk about a bad machine. This little baby doesn't drip or burn a drop of oil or any other fluids. It has the original serpentine belt too. AMAZING truck! I would recommend it to anyone. I just bought an 03, and I'm impressed with it too so far."

"My biggest complaint about this truck is the one reason you would even need a p/u for---performance. The horsepower is terrible. For years my pop owned 1 after another and he always noticed how much it struggled to either speed up, tow, or how it drags. I finally had the sense to look up the features and realized its because of low horsepower which is what youll need either at home or work at time. Better to have it when you need it than not to. Yeah, its a nice little pickup, wont give you much problems w/ proper maint., if your just looking to carry a couple 2x4's in it then go for it, but if you need it for miscellaneous jobs around the house --trash, furniture, sheetrock, or any weight whatsoever, i recommend you go full size pickup."

"Gas mileage is terrible. I got 14mpg when I bought the truck, added a high flow air filter and now get 15.5 mpg. Anyway, all around good truck for the money. This truck will take a beating and keep on going."

"I love this little truck it has great milage. I also love the fact that it can handle so much its only got 89000 miles on it and still truckin. I only had to have a oxeygen censer replaced other then that no mechinal problems. When the time comes to get a new vehicle it will defently be a ranger."

"I bought this truck off my dad in 2001, it is a Supercab, 4.0L 4X4 off road model. I put some bigger tires on it, and I still get 18 to 20mpgs regularly with it. I have 125,000 miles and counting on it. Here is a list of everything I have replaced on it: 1. Spark plugs 2. Spark Plug wires 3. Brakes 4. Ball Joints It has never left me stranded, never had a mechanical failure of any type. It pulled a trailer with 3 ATVs on it over 250 miles without a hiccup on several occasions. I am in the market for a new car, probably a Mustang. I am going to keep the Ranger and drive it in the winter. Why get rid of a truck that has been so good to me? Complaints: I am 6'4" and leg room could be better. I would have liked a better stereo."
