"I bought this truck new in 2003 and have loved it. I previously had a 1995 Ranger and a 1970 F250 and a 1991 Chevy Suburban. Hands down, this 2003 XLT Ranger is the most satisfactory of the group. I have the 4.0L V6, and the towing package with heavy duty springs. I commute (gas mileage is poor - 14.6mpg around town), but haul and tow fairly often. It works pretty hard under a full load, but has never overheated or underperformed. The brakes seem a little undersized, for I've replaced pads and rotors a couple of times and haven't hit 70,000 miles yet. Also, the front end has become a little noisy. Yet, it rides well (with good tires) and quietly. My wife and I are perfectly willing to drive it 500 miles to see grandchidren instead of taking her car. It's quiet for a truck and stable. We're of average height/weight, so the smallish cabin is fine, and it's lack of fancy electronics is fine. I like the relatively simple dash layout. Pure functionality. I don't know what I'm going to do when Ford ceases production of the Ranger in 2011. I really don't need the size of a F150; a small/medium sized truck suits me just fine."

"This truck is capable of doing almost everything a full-size truck can do. The ride quality is also good for being a truck."

"I have had my Ford Ranger for 3 years. I bought it from my father who bought it new. It is a custom V6 4.2 litre engine. It runs great, never had any problems with it yet. I would recommend the truck to a friend in a heartbeat, and I would buy one again. They look sick and they are a great value for your money. I can't speak for everyone, but the performance and handling on my Ford Ranger is phenominal. If you are seriously looking for a truck that is good on gas, goes where you need it to go, does what you need it to do, looks great, good value for the money, and have all the girls wanting a ride, get the Ford Ranger. You won't be disapointed."

"I don't drive my Ranger a lot but it is always up for any task I ask of it. 4.0 V6 gives very good power and performance, although gas mileage is only fair. Ranges from about 16-22 depending. I bought new in 2003 and it only has about 24000 miles, but it has had no problems, just regular maintenance. Extended cab is handy and it's fun to drive even if it lets you know it's a truck. I love it."

"This truck handles better than anything out there. It has everything put into a small package that is reasonably priced and hold its value well. I did not know what I was getting into when I bought this Ford, but I am sure to let everyone else know from now on. You couldn't have made a better purchase than a Ford Ranger."

"I've had no major problems with my Ranger, and I'm happy with it. But the base 2.3 liter engine has no power at all for this truck, and that is my only complaint about it. If you have a choice, go with the 6-cylinder engine, either the 3 or 4 liter."

"In April, I brought a 2003 Ford Ranger Edge Subercab. What made this truck so appealing is that it's a good looking truck and I been doing my research and I have heard nothing but good things about this truck. The one that I brought is blue has power locks, power windows, tilt, cruise, and six cd changer. Also, I like the fact it's a 4-door subercab. The truth is I have always been a chevy man but l like the ranger better the chevy colorado and the dodge dakota. The colorado is a very ugly truck and the dakota doesn't have much power unless you get a V8. When you buy a used truck, you buy it as is. I brought mine with 60,150 miles and right now I have 66,093 miles on it. It has been good truck and I'm been getting about 19-20 mpg on the highway. I wish had a brand new one that way it would be up under warranty and I would get a second set of keys. When I brought this one, they only give me one set of keys. Overall, I really enjoy my truck but I ended up paying more than it's worth."

"This is my second Ranger. The first was rolled at 190k miles and this on has 112k. Rangers have been the most reliable vehicles I have owned in 40 years of driving. The one thing that is lacking in this truck is traction on wet roads or snow. 4wd would definitely be an asset in this case. This truck has had one problem. At 110 k the fuel shutoff switch activated. I rest it and the truck ran fine for 500 miles shen it happened again. 17 bucks at the dealer and a ten minute install fixed it. The 2.3 engine could have more pep but the increased fuel economy 28 MPG make it worth it."
