"i have an 05 very basic ranger and i've put 20,000 miles on it in a year and i'v got around 28-32 miles to the gallon with a 5 speed and the i4 it's not the beefest or most powerful truck around but i can put 2 cubic yards of mulch or 1500lb od scrap steel in the back and still pull the hills around here at 55 which impresed me alot because the first time i loaded it i didnt think it would be that quick on the hills. this truck is comfortable enough that i drove 6 hours in it and i'm 6'3''."

"Okay, so I have only owned this truck for a week so I may be a little biased due to the hype of having my first new truck. However, I feel I got a great deal for the truck. Like others have said, I have seen 250,000 miles put on these trucks and they still keep on tickin'! I love the way this truck handles. I just stepped up from a compact car, so I thought it was going to be hard to control. I have owned this truck a week and I feel I have been driving it for years. It looks great and rides the same. I will write another review after a few months and years if anything changes, but so far, soooo good!!"

"This truck won't win awards for it's interior or creature comforts but for value none can beat it. What else can you haul 6000 lbs with for the starting price of a civic. My buddy has had one since 01 with no problems other than regular service and it's still running strong at 350000 kms. Mines is a brand new 08 and after five months it hasn't seen the shop once. Unless you need the 4 adult seating or larger load capability give this truck serious thought. Mines is a sport 4x4 with a few options and ran me about 22000 after haggling with the dealer. It kills in 4x4 in bad weather and in mud when I use it as my work vehicle. It's town manners and way better than a full sized but not as refined as a town built SUV. Only complaint is the size difference against 1/2 tons but you get used to it quick, especially if you move up from a car. Even my wife loves to drive it and steals it instead of driving her new 08 Lancer whenever she can excuse it."

"I can say that this truck was the best purchase I have ever made. The Ranger's suspension is great. In my old Bronco, potholes usually proved to be nerve racking, now I can run over pot holes and speed bumbs and never even feel it. I wish though they would have put the better P255 tires on standard instead of the smaller looking P235 tires. I also wish they would have kept the stepside option as well as have manual passenger side airbag control. For a factory tuned audio system, it has a great base and overall sound quality. I used to have a tacoma with forward facing rear seats (extended cab). The Ranger's jump seats are much more comfortable and provide much more room. I can also say that there is a place to store something no matter where you look. However, the Ranger needs to raised about two inches so that it doesn't look 4x2 even though its a 4x4. I like the tire pressure monitor system. For a 4.0L V6 it has great power and excellent pickup, just needs some gas milage improvements. The suspension is extremely comfortable but needs some stiffer leaf springs for the rear. I think the sticker claiming MPG to be 14 City, and 19 Highway needs to be corrected because I get 18 City and 22-23 Highway which for a 4.0 Liter is extremely good but could be better since gas going to almost $4 per gallon. I love to drive this vehicle. Its very quiet, comfortable, with excellent outside visibility. What you get feature wise for the money is in my opinion much better than its competitors. If you like a truck that anyone can drive big or small this is a great truck to have."

"From the time the Ranger arrived on the scene I have admired them. Finally purchased one in Sept. I was looking for good gas milage in a small truck. The Ranger has delivered, along with decent performance from a 4cyl, auto-trans. The radio is the base version but, the sound is excellent. It handles well at all speeds. I am a big guy and I still feel comfortable in it, it has the regular cab. I like the styling, it looks tough and so far it is proving itself to be just that. I think it is a real value in a small truck"

"The truck has not changed much since 1997, but that is a good thing! I had the 1997 model and enjoyed 100K+ trouble free miles, so when it was time for a new one, I looked to find a similarly equiped 2.3 L Ranger. I was surprised to find it easily, and at a very low price after rebates (I am told this is because the truck has not been "redisigned" lately). Well, it may be 10 year old technology, but it remains very good technology. It is nice to purchase something for so little that I can expect to drive for 10 years and 100 K miles."

"Hard to believe that Ford is going to cease production of the Ranger in 2009. All it really needs is some modernization and it'll be a hit for another 25 years. My 2007 Ranger, bought in '06 has been the best vehicle EVER. No problems at all, fun to drive, extremely well made, looks great and is fairly cheap on gas. I think Ford is making BIG mistake shutting ths gem down instead of putting some cosmetic ingenuity into it. Sad."

"We had a Honda Ridgline, never will we buy a honda truck we had to look for a new small but could tow a four wheeler with ease. perfect answer The Ranger! with a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds this (compact) truck can do anything the tacoma and ridgline can except easier. the only bad thing about this car is the 4.0 fuel economy we get 23 highway which its better than the ridgeline but still not great overall this truck is defanitly built Ford tough"
