"I bought my 2001 Ford Taurus after it had over 200,000 miles on it, and it still ran like new! The seats are very comfortable. It handles quite well and the acceleration is great with it's V6 engine. The only thing that sucks is that it does not come with a CD player or any other gadgets that you see on the newer cars. Other than that, the vehicle has been very reliable and I've never had to get any work done on it besides routine maintenance"

"I purchased the car new in Ocober of 2001 and drove it for 8 years, now my boys are driving it. It currently has 312,000 miles and still going. Faithfully did oil changes every 7,500 miles, tune ups at 100K, 200K, 300K, new belt @ 225K, normal tires and brakes and one new battery in 2007. I love all of the Fords I have owned (11 to date) and always, always had a good experience. Looking for another as we speak."

"I have had this car since I was 16 and my dad owned it since it was brand new. I am 18 now and have had next to zero issues with the car! It has 194,000 miles on the odo and the tranny shifts very smoothly. Only problems are that the oil pan gasket leaks a little bit and the starter had to be replaced once or twice, but both very minor issues in my opinion. If you get it, swap the stock muffler for a Cherrybomb Glasspack and you won't be disappointed. The 6 sounds very racey and V8ish. No rice whatsoever. Will also embarrass stock Celicas. :) Overall, a fantastic car for a first car."

"I Brought my Taurus in 2007 , used, from a Electrical Engineer who took meticulus care of his cars and it showed in this one when I purchased it with 59,000 miles on the ticker. Since then we've put 27,000 on it and the transmission had to be rebuilt because of a leak from the seal. the well respected shop told me that these transmissions barely last 100,000 and should be completely rebuilt. Two months and $2,000 later and I was stranded when the car wouldn't start. After having it towed to my mechanic, he found that the fuel pump was on it's last legs and needed to be replaced. Another $800 later and the car is having a problem with sudden acceleration. When the car is first started and put into gear the engine races up to 1,300 RPM as the transmission engages. My mechanic now tells me that the Idle Motor needs to be replaced which costs at least $100. Besides all this, the driver's seat is coming apart, no doubt from my 130 lb wife who is the main driver. I also own a 97 Honda Accord with 130,000 miles on it and it runs like a top with no problems. When it comes time to replace one of these cars, it will be a tough decision which one goes but it will probably be the Honda since the Taurus is newer with fewer miles and so much money already invested in it."

"I've had a Taurus SE for 5 years. It's been extremely reliable with only regular maintenance and the replacement of the rear springs. I've heard this is typical for this car. For the money, it does what it is suppose to, start up and get you where you're going."
