Consumer Reviews
"If you haven't driven a Taurus lately and you're looking for a mid-sized, affordable, quiet, comfortable family sedan with tons of technology, you owe it to yourself to test drive a Ford Taurus. This car is very quiet, the amenities are plentiful, the interior styling is very cool and not at all cheap looking or feeling. The trunk is HUGE! The onboard computer, the satellite radio, the reverse gear warning system, ABS, traction control, Microsoft SYNC, its all very very cool. Try to get a car with all this and a 263 HP engine in a Japanese model and pay thousands of dollars more. Of course, those would hold resale better, but this is a terrific value. Its huge, too, so if youre like me and safety is an issue, this is a good choice. Also, mileage is not bad. A very reliable and steady 17 in the city, and, from what I can tell, about 25-26 on the hwy. I would definitely recommend this car to friends and family."

"Good car overall. Getting about 23 mph mix hwy and city. Biggest problem is chrome peeling around tailights. Ford will replace if under warranty but are replacing with same faulty tailights. Will not replace once out of warranty. Every 2010 Taurus I have looked at has the same exact problem. Really detracts from an otherwise nice car. What a shame Ford replaces one faulty part with the same."

"The 2010 Ford Taurus is a large car, but I still average over 27 miles/gallon. Love the heated and cooled seats in the front. The camera for backing up is real handy. Ambient lighting is a nice touch. The car handles so nice and ride is real comfortable, yet firm. Climate controlled heat and air conditioner for each front seat passenger is awesome. Love this sporty looking car."

"This vehicle is excellent. I have the SHO trim and it is awesome. Loaded with options and power for half the price of a similar sized German sedan. Holding up great, no problems with the awesome sync system. Only complaint is the seat belt height adjuster on passenger side was handled roughly and jammed. Ford fixed under warranty. Excellent build though. Everyone is amazed with these cars. I see other owners and Lincoln MKS drivers and when we ask eachother how we like it, the answer is always the same; can't believe what a deal this car was! A/C seats, navigation, adaptive cruise control, rear heated seats, rear sun shade, comfortable seats."

"I recently purchased a used 2010 silver 2010 Ford Taurus SEL with about 11,000 miles on it. I have put about 2,000 miles on it in my first six weeks of ownership. The only issue I have had with the car was one instance of the spedometer sticking at 70 mph when i was going under 20 mph. I parked, turned the car off and back on with no issues since, and I do keep an eye on it constantly to see if I need to contact the dealership. My SEL has leather, the Sony sound system, 19" wheels, and looks great. I have received many compliments on the looks of the car from friends and family. My parents are going to purchase a new 2012 Taurus in the next few months after driving mine. The car is quiet, and fun to drive. You may have to play with the seat for a while to get it in the right position so the head rest doesn't bother you. I am 6'2", and have pleanty of leg room in it. My wife made the comment that she feels like she is in an airplane cockpit when she drives it. I agree. The center console is a bit high, but doesn't bother me. The Sony stereo is worth the extra money. As is the leather seats. They look great with the white stitching against the black leather. I have 3 car seats in the back, and it is tight, buy the kids make it work ok. I will probably drive this for 5-6 years, and look for another Ford product. I previously had a Chrysler 300. The Taurus is a much superior car."

"Dear Readers: 1. I rented a 2011 Ford Taurus SEL because I was most excited about the great review I read Consumer Reports July 4, 2011. 2. EPA city/hwy, mpg is listed as 18/27. It never happened! I averaged 12 in the city and 15 on the highway and over all only got 13.5 miles per gallon after travelling all over Connecticut for a week vacation..Ford is putting out misleading facts about the new Taurus! 2. Front drivers seat is not comfortable because the center console is too close to your right leg and the door panel is too close to your left leg, unless you are a smaller than average person. I weigh 195 pounds and I am 5'll' in height. 3. The trunk is super heavy and does not go up by itself and you need both hands free to open it! 4. Ford put two pieces of rubber that stick out from each side of the trunk that that look ridiculous and look as though they were cut from an old tire tube to keep the noise down when shutting the trunk. 5. Lots of room in the trunk and that is good for sure 6. Lots of room in the back seat for passengers and that's good. 7. Sony sound system poor. 8. The start button does not always work on the first try..it takes two and three times on many occasions..9. 100% for sure you don't get an average of 19MPG like Ford states in their advertisements..misleading advertisements, 10. If you don't care about only getting around 13 to 14 miles per gallon over all, the Ford Taurus looks good and gives a good ride!"

"Traded a 2006 Five Hundred limited which never had a single problem in 64,000 miles for a new 2010 Taurus limited. This car is a much more refined vehicle. Fit and finsih is very good and quality is up there with the best. Car is very quiet and rides very well. We have a 2008 Volvo S60 which the rear end end braking is shared with this model and I was a little apprehensive but braking is better than expected. Engine is very quiet and gas m ileage on highway is 28 and 23.8 in city and highway driving. I like the little things that at first appeared silly like the ambient lighting and rear sun screen but they have proved useful. The only option I wish I had is the Blis side cross traffic sensors as the roof is low and there is limited visibility to the sides. Overall a very good car and I test drove a Cadillac CTS, Hyundai Genesis and Licoln MKS before finally choosing the Taurus."
