Consumer Reviews
"found a '97 tracker with really lo mileage last year. fab gas mileage +a front roof that comes off with the turn of 4 screws maybe 10 lbs tops+ goes right into the back for easy on + off.! handles beautifully though in a stiff wind..well, light 4 cyl car,but responsive,non-problematic,parks in the tightest spots+ a no recall car!imagine that!fun to drive ,only prob is no a/c in ours + that some replacement parts are hard to get (no longer dealer stocked)but they never should have stopped making these cars. similars are driven all over europe. best, fun, well made, cheap little hard top/convertible suv idea that was unfortunately shelved in the u.s. in this better mileage range."

"If you are looking for a vehicle with a lot of pick-up and great handling, find something else. With that said, the Tracker/Sidekick is an awesome little workhorse. It is tiny on the outside, but big on the inside. It is extremely rugged (handles rough dirt roads like a charm) and durable, and the four-wheel drive will get you out of any (reasonable) situation. Mine was a 4-door hardtop, which i highly recommend (the more common 2-door soft-tops are much noisier on the highway). Note that this is a small truck, NOT a car, and handles as such."

"No, the Tracker (and its sister vehicle, the Sidekick) aren't going to turn many heads because of great looks, and yes, the cabin is a little more than spartan, but I have owned two of these fun little trucks and regret selling both. They are rock-solid dependable (even if you loan them to a friend who happens not to know that cars need oil...) and will get you through any kind of weather. They're not quick and the handling is what you'd expect for a tall, short SUV, but for the price they are unbeatable. These trucks are excellent in the winter. I've never managed to get stuck in Michigan snow despite my best efforts, and had no problem dealing with axle-high mud even with worn street tires. And they are indestructable. I was rear-ended by an Accord going ~35-40 MPH and the Tracker suffered almost no damage whatsoever - only a small scratch and dent on the bumper. To put its durability another way - this is a vehicle that doesn't mind getting airborne."

"I love this car. I drive around town as my children's taxi and it is great on gas. My father-in-law paid about $1500 for it. It is worth that and more. I parked my Surburan for this car. I would recommend this highly as a great first time car or as a mom's taxi."

"This was my first car. a trusty little tracker. If you come across one in relatively good condition it is a great first car for anyone. Since they aren't being produced anymore you won't find a new one,but the prices of these little cars are always pretty low - thats a plus for a first time buyer. it's ok to make little mistakes like accidently hitting a curb because its not going to be as big of a deal as when you hit the curb with, say, your mommy's BMW. anyway...tracker owners rock my socks. TRACKER LOOOVEEEE"
