"truck has cheap metal for the body but the 4 wheel is the real attraction of this truck. ive taken mine up quad trails. i would never sell or trade but i would recomend toyota for someones first truck. the gmcs need more love than any other truck so it takes a mechanic to own one."

"i wrote a review about my truck,in nov 09.Now is feb 2011,i still have my truck, since then, the starter went out,it now has 139,000 miles.I guess i can still squeeze a bit more out of it,it drives well, when i get to about 75-80 mph it sometimes jumps out of gear.....at times, i`m tired of it ,sometimes i think i can go a little longer with it.I wouldn`t dare drive really long distances with it,40 minutes max.......i`ll probably end up keeping it,but i can`t resist the temptetion of a better truck....."

"I got mine in 03,now is nov 09,got it when it had 73k miles now it has 131k,have had a few problems with transmission,.for the longest time i thought the tran. went bad ,and after 3 mechanics saying that i need to rebuld or a new transmission,i left it the driveway for a year, plus.and then took it to a friend of mine mechanic from church, and found out that was the crank shaft sensor, the wiper blades motor is going in and out,.....It`s a good truck, not too fancy....but if u change u`re fluids on time ,you may have the chance to squeeze more out of it,i`ll keep mine until it dies, good on gas, mine is 2.2...i`m a big guy,the only complaint that i have is,i wish i would have gotten an ext. cab."

"Bought truck with 113,000 miles on it, have driven it now with 118,000. Have owned a 96 S-10(245,000 miles) and 95 Blazer (275,000 miles). Chevy's S-10 truck series have almost been bulletproof for me-as long as regular work done on intervals. Could not say enough great things about this truck. Extended cab leaves plenty of room to haul cargo inside and being able to stretch out. Only complaint to be the 4.3L V6 after the 1997 model year seem sluggish. But my truck does run the BFGoodrich Allterain T/A tires (31x10.5)."

"This truck is an interesting one. It is hard to insult it yet hard to complement. The V-6 engine is one of the best out there and the interior is quite comfortable. On the other hand, it has some of the worst, low-grade interior materials I have ever seen. This kind of plastic could have come from a fisher price toy. It falls apart very quickly. If you don't mind subpar build quality then this truck is a great value. Beware of the engine. It had to be replaced at 130,000 miles."
