Chicago—April 7, 2008—Cars.com (www.cars.com) announced today a webinar focused on helping dealers drive higher profits at their stores by using online tools to acquire, retail and remarket their used-car inventory. The free, hour-long event, "From Online Auction to Listings: Getting the Competitive Edge," begins at noon EDT on April 11. It is part of Cars.com's monthly DealerADvantage LIVE webinar series.
"On the retail side of the business, shopping sites such as Cars.com have transformed how dealers advertise their listings and connect with in-market buyers," said Ralph Ebersole, Cars.com director of automotive consulting and dealer training. "Today, the internet is also transforming the wholesale side of the business. Dealers can now use online tools to manage every aspect of the used-car sales process, In this seminar, we are excited to showcase how internet wholesaling can work together with online retail operations for maximum online success."
Led by Ebersole and Greg Lubrani, sales director for OPENLANE (http://www.openlane.com), a leading online wholesale automotive auction company, the webinar will examine how dealers can use online auctions to purchase in-demand vehicles for their stores and move aging inventory or cars acquired through customer trade-ins that they do not want. Attendees will learn how to:
- Overcome the fear of buying and selling your inventory through online auction
- Realize the benefits of selling vehicles online, both wholesale and retail
- Leverage online tools to find and optimize inventory, determine competitive pricing and effectively merchandise listings
- Optimize both wholesale and retail operations online for maximum profit.
"Online auctions significantly reduce the time dealers need to invest in acquiring inventory for their stores while substantially expanding the selection," said Lubrani. "Instead of being limited to bidding on what's available at a physical auction, they can select from the best of what their customers are likely to purchase. Safeguards ensure they enjoy the same level of protection without the risk of losing sales because they were out of the office."
Ebersole and Lubrani also will present this topic at the fourth annual Digital Dealer Conference and Exposition to be held April 21-23 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Conference Center in Orlando, Fla. The session is scheduled for 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. on April 22.
