Introductions
Models debuting in the 2005 model year
9-2X
$22,990 - $26,950
For the first time, Saab has a youth-oriented "crossover" sport wagon in its lineup for the 2005 model year. The result of a joint effort with Subaru, the compact 9-2X comes with that company's powertrains and basic structure, but it features styling that's strictly Saab. A full-fledged Saab sport utility vehicle called the 9-7X will debut later.  Get full 9-2X report

9-7X
$38,270 - $40,270
Saab is joining the sport utility vehicle segment long after most of its competitors. On sale in small numbers in late spring 2005, the 9-7X is related to the Chevrolet TrailBlazer but promises Saab styling cues and interior features. An inline-six-cylinder and a V-8 engine are available, and all-wheel drive is standard.  Get full 9-7X report

9-3
$26,850 - $42,600
A substantial redesign of Saab's 9-3 for 2003 transformed it into a premium sport sedan with a long wheelbase and a wide track, which promised improved handling. Linear, luxurious Arc and sporty Vector editions get a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes either 175 or 210 horsepower. For 2004, a five-speed-manual transmission became standard on the Arc sedan. A redesigned 9-3 Convertible also debuted in 2004 and is available with related powertrains. A 175-hp Linear convertible joins the original 210-hp Arc and Aero for 2005, and a new DVD-based navigation system is available. Get full 9-3 report

9-5
$32,550 - $40,750
Saab's midsize front-wheel-drive sedan and wagon are available in Linear, Arc and Aero editions; each model has a specific powertrain, wheels and interior trim. For the 2004 model year, the Linear model was available only as a sport wagon, and the Aero gained a sportier look. In the Arc model, a 220-horsepower, 2.3-liter four-cylinder and a five-speed-manual gearbox are standard. The Linear model uses a 185-hp four-cylinder, while the high-performance Aero contains a 250-hp version. A new DVD-based navigation system is available for 2005, and Arc models get redesigned wheels.
