Vehicle Summary
After three years in its prior form, Toyota's hybrid-powered Prius was redesigned for 2004 and enlarged enough to move from compact to midsize status. Rather than a four-door sedan, as it used to be, the current model is a stylish four-door hatchback. In contrast to Honda's hybrid system, electric operation is dominant in the Prius and the gasoline engine provides supplementary power. Demand has been strong, causing Toyota to increase production.
