Vehicle Summary

Honda scored big points with environmentalists when it launched the first gasoline/electric hybrid car in the U.S. market, the two-passenger Insight. Only a five-speed-manual transmission was offered when it debuted in the 2000 model year, but a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) became available in May 2001. This change makes the super-frugal hatchback more appealing to potential buyers who cannot, or do not wish to, drive a five-speed. Read more
