The Arnage Drophead Coupe is the possible heir apparent to Bentley's last convertible, the Azure, which ceased production in 2003.
A derivative of the Arnage, the four-seat Drophead Coupe concept's styling is easily recognizable as a Bentley. The interior features tan leather upholstery and 20 percent more rear cabin room than the Azure. The foldaway soft canvas top tucks neatly into a rear panel directly in front of the trunk, taking about 25 to 30 seconds to complete its transformation.
The Drophead Coupe concept features the same 450-horsepower, 6.75-liter V-8 as the 2005 Arnage T; the engine generates 645 pounds-feet of torque.
The concept also features a pop-up protection system to meet federal regulations for roll bars in convertibles.
After introducing the car at the 2005 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, Bentley will present the Drophead Coupe concept throughout the United States and Europe over the next three months to gauge feedback. Consumer interest in the car could result in a production version by spring 2006. |
