Ferrari's new Superamerica convertible features an electrochromic glass roof that takes just 10 seconds to stow away atop the vehicle's trunk.
The roof has five manual tint levels, allowing the driver to operate in either sun or shade. At the flip of a switch, the roof opens upward and rotates on its own axis, tucking away neatly above the car's trunk a mere 10 seconds later.
The Superamerica, based on the automaker's 575M Maranello, uses a 540-horsepower V-12 engine and goes from zero to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds.
Approximately 500 to 550 production models will be available for sale starting in March.
The car was officially introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, but members of the press got a sneak peek at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show a few days prior. The Superamerica is named in honor of Ferrari's biggest sales market. |
