GMC Yukon
GMC's full-size sport utility vehicle is closely related to the Chevrolet Tahoe and is based on General Motors' full-size pickup trucks. Both the Yukon and Tahoe were redesigned for the 2000 model year, and they compete against such full-size SUVs as the Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and Toyota's Land Cruiser and Sequoia. GMC sells a larger version, called the Yukon XL, which is comparable to the Chevrolet Suburban. The Yukon comes with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD). According to Automotive News, Yukon sales have risen sharply from 56,297 units in 2000 to 77,254 units in 2001.

GMC Yukon XL
Based on General Motors' full-size Silverado pickup truck but measuring 20 inches longer, the Yukon XL is the king-size version of GMC's Yukon sport utility vehicle. The Chevrolet Suburban, which differs little in structure, is the corporate twin of the Yukon XL. Full-size rivals include the Ford Excursion and Toyota Sequoia.

GMC Envoy
GMC offered an Envoy prior to 2001, and the current model serves as the top-of-the-line member of its now-departed Jimmy sport utility vehicle family. The Envoy designation disappeared for a season but returned again for 2002 on a brand-new midsize model. It serves as part of a trio of General Motors midsize SUVs that includes the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and Oldsmobile Bravada. GMC's version occupies the middle ground of the group.

GMC Savana
GMC has redesigned its full-size rear-wheel-drive (RWD) vans for the first time in seven years. The 2003 Savanas get upgraded powertrains, fresh features and an updated appearance. Three industry firsts are available: all-wheel drive (AWD), an optional left-side door and unique side access panels for use on commercial vans. The Savana's front-end styling has been revised to give a greater family resemblance to other General Motors trucks.

GMC Safari
Like the similar Chevrolet Astro, the Safari is GMC's long-lived midsize van; it dates back to 1985. The Safari is truck-based and remains available in passenger and cargo-carrying versions with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). Base, SLE and upscale SLT trim levels of the passenger-carrying Safari are available; the SLE and SLT trim designations are actually option groups.
