"We bought this 08 civic hybrid new, took it in for scheduled and periodic maint., lost some mileage Per Gallon with "new" gas, then at last maint. lost our 49.9 hwy/44.5 city mpg down to 37.5 hwy/ 34 city. took it back the next week and they did a recal which took another 3 hours of our time, no improvement at all. Now will return next week for hours to have their "tech" look again. We lose battery charge now with a/c and fan on 2 after 25 minutes in town, minimal stops; the motor has become sluggish and now sounds like a sewing machine.......is there any recourse?"

"Own a 2008 Honda Hybrid Civic.Have 80,000 miles on the vehicle. Bought it for the gas mileage and the navigational system. I am getting great gas mileage as it will not go forward. Th navigational system will not work after nine months to find out it is electronic and that electronics are not under warranty by Honda after three months. $4500 to repair it. Some sort of new transmission and it is hard to get the fluid even at the dealer. Have had to replace both electric window motors, three sets of tires(Dealer told me the factory left off a part)and now I am being told I weigh too much for this car and that is why my tires wear funny. It is difficult to get in and out of. Wore out the insulation on the door due to getting in and out. Seats are very uncomfortable for daily long drives. Plastic covering on bottom came off due to very little ground clearence.I was told by dealer it is not a lemon. The car quit going forward. It has done this before and then like nothing happened it was fine. Dealer said they could not tell what was wrong as it was running fine. It just quits. It will not pull itself up an incline or this last time even a flat road. This car is not good to drive outside of a metropolitain area"

"I dumped my 2007 Ford Freestyle for the 2008 Civic Hybrid after dealing with poor customer service and an inability to get parts in a timely manner. So glad I did! I love this car. The mileage, the look, the size and especially the value. This is my first Honda and I can't see that it will be my last!!"

"We only have 6000 miles on our hybrid, but it is apparently bulletproof. The poorest mileage we have seen was 40mpg, and on trips we get 50 mpg. A couple of complaints however: 1. The headlights do not turn off automatically when you turn the car off (Or we don't know how to access this feature!) Our Accord did so. 2. It is difficult for me to read the digital speedometer when driving in bright sunlight, perhaps it needs a "higher" brightness setting?"

"I bought this vehicle in March 2008 and have enjoyed driving it every minute. I have been getting over the MPG listed... 46 to 48 for the last several tanks of gas. Only slight downsides... VERY tight to have an adult and two car seats in the back. Fortunately, we don't need to do this often. Also, not much trunk space for long trips. We were able to pack luggage for 2 adults and 2 kids for a long weekend, but that was a full load."

"I have owned this car with NAV for over a year and it has 38,000 miles. It has averaged 40 MPG and has been very reliable. Handling is excellent and it is a great car to take on trips with 2 kids. I would highly recommend it. Only negative is reduced MPG in harsh winters and expensive oil changes."

"This is our 2nd Civic Hybrid. We had a 2003 that averaged 42 mpg over 102,000 miles without a hiccup. The 2008 is getting even better mileage, and is a bit roomier inside. I drive 60+ miles daily round trip to work, and absolutely love this car!"

"My wife and I just got married purchased our 2007 Hybrid new in November of 2006. Honestly we were not in the market for a hybrid, but my wife loved the opal silver blue metallic color. Since it was only available in the hybrid model thats what we bought. I wanted the EX with sunroof, but we compromised and we ordered the Navigation system. We can't say enough about our car! We love just about everything about it. The Navigation works great especially since we travel through New England a lot. Our mileage is actually better than they say you get In the summer we average 52-55, and during the winter we get 47-50 mpg. We rarely go to the gas pump, and are able to get almost 600 miles to the tank in the summer. We do drive gas consciously and keep the mpg gauge in our view at all times. We love the color, and the special hybrid wheels look like nothing else on the road. The tan interior is holding up pretty well too, although we did opt for the all weather floor mats. The digital speedometer is another aspect of the car we like. We now have 26k miles on it and nothing has gone wrong. Even though the car is small, its shape allows it to hold a ton of stuff. We have only been to the dealership for oil and filter changes. An few items that we would love to see improved, would be first the front seat headrests. They bump the back of your head and don't allow you to sit straight in the seat. Another is the cubbie holes under the climate controls, they just seem to gather dust, papers and change. The last item would be the sliding armrest between the seats, it always slides back when you don't want it too. A couple of things we would like to see added to a new civic hybrid would be a sunroof, heated seats, and keyless start. Overall we are both really happy with our Civic Hybrid and would recommend it to anyone that Wants a no hassle great looking car that just happens to get amazing gas mileage."

"I've owned the Civic Hvbrid for 2 months and have averaged over 45 mpg for 2600 miles of mixed driving. Handles nicely and as others mention a pleasant surprise from my 2002 Civic. Easyy to get used to driving and playing the mpg game... Lows: Do notice the CVAT pulsing from time to time looking for the right gearing. Honda has skimped on some things for which you have to pay for as dealer options, like fog lights and interior curteousy lights. Road noise loader than necessary, likely from LR tires. Overall a very decent communter vechile"
