"I bought a 2012 honda civic automatic 5 speed. I know it has 3 speeds, and maybe 4 speeds but it does not have 5 speeds. I coast into a stop sign and what happens the transmission down shifts, at 60+ mph you come to a 2 or 3 degree hill and the car down shifts. Going down a hill without touching the gas pedal the car stays in 1st gear RPM over 4000, I have to touch the gas pedal to get the transmission to shift up to a higher gear and low RPM. junk transmission redesign it poor gas mileage 24 mpg"

"Very happy with new ride. Love Bluetooth phone option and large speedometer. Only had it for 3-1/2 weeks but so far it's great. Also like the windshield wipers that don't throw left side onto right since they are like scissors."

"Complaints: Noisy could be better sound proofed, the USB audio system only syncs with Apple, Lots of plastic in interior but thats not so bad, The ECON option get me an average of 2 miles per gallon LESS when it should be more. I had a 1998 Accord LX, I thought fourteen years later the civic would be a better car than a 14 year old Accord in all aspects, but it's not the case. I wish I test drove a Hyundai Elantra, I like the styling better and the interior seems a bit more polished but I chickened out and went for reliability"

"overall a nice car, when you are parking you can not see , over the dashboard how much space you need, and secondly the back seat is not a split in case you need to carry some thing long the whole backrest flips over and no room to seat"

"The dash and trim are good quality, but the armrest is more of a tip-of-the-elbow rest. Seats are ok, but could be more supportive. Performance is lackluster, but that's to be expected from a small 4-cylinder engine. The gas mileage started off great, but has steadily declined from about 36+ MPG down to 33 if I'm lucky. The car was bought with gas mileage in mind. My enthusiasm is waning."

"Don't understand negative reviews. Is there a difference between cheap interior plastic and expensive plastic?Great dash with digital speedometer readout in large numerals.Peppy engine.Quiet, roomy interior.Large trunk space. We live in N.GA. mtns and i'm averaging almost 34mpg.Only negative, harder for me to get into at my age compared to my minivan trade-in,but very comfortable seats. Couldn't beat the price and 0.9% financing. Hopefully very reliable for a long time."

"Highly recommend the Civic for reliability and value. Not a sports car but very dependable and economical. Great gas mileage and comfort. Styling a little dated but overall pleasing. Interior could use some updating."
