Consumer Reviews
"We purchased our 2012 pilot about a month ago to replace our sedan. We have two children, both in car seats, and one 110lb akita. We usually travel to see family 1 or 2 weekends per month on a 600 mi round trip. We used to take the 2006 chevy tahoe before getting the pilot, but the tahoe gets 15-17 mpg and has over 100K miles, so we needed an alternative. The interior set-up is great and 2 adults, 2 car seats, the dog, and our luggage fit comfortably! We actually love the more rugged boxy exterior styling. Some SUVs look for like Minivans that SUVs. We chose the pilot over the traverse and acadia (this is our first honda). The pilot mechanisms (seat folding and sliding) all seemed to work more easily than the GM vehicles. Also the pilot has a locking differential and slightly higher ground clearance and I do have to go off road now and then. Driving the pilot you can feel a little underpowered every once in a while, but for the purpose of this vehicle I would not want more power in lieu of better gas mileage. The honda pilot would be the perfect SUV if is was 2"-4" longer, had slightly more power (while maintaining gas mileage). I believe extra length would take the interior passenger and cargo space from good to great and a longer wheel base would take the highway ride to the next level. Our family is very happy with the honda pilot."

"Owned just over a month, still getting used to the size. Very comfortable and love the tri-zone air conditioning. Mileage supposed to be 19 town, 24 highway. Barely making 19 but haven't taken it on the highway yet. Hope mileage improves as it is broken in."

"Love the car - love the drive, quiet, smooth, radio, comfy seats, back seats when folded down, lots of room in the back for people and stuff in that boxy back end Don't love - odometer, location of low-gas light and gas meter - too easy to NOT see how low you are on gas"

"I am just replacing my Ody, drove the car for 20 miles, just trying to put things I had in Odyssey in the new Pilot. Back seats are not comfortable at all. They don't tilt much. Not much compartments to store things. I could put my bikes in Ody without any problem, can't to in it. Seats almost fall down flat, not quite. Glove compartment is so small. This could be a nice upgrade from a smaller vehicle. If you have an Ody and don't care about 4WD, get another Ody. This is a great one for just for 2 people who wants a 4X4 on highways."

"Puchased 2012 Pilot Touring 2WD back in Feb, 2 oil leaks ever since. Honda quality is going down big time, maybe it's just me being bad luck with this suv. Had 2 oil leak within the last month and the dealer have no clue where the leak come from. I paid $40K for a leaky Pilot pretty much. This is my 5th Honda but never again."

"Purchased 2012 Pilot EX 4WD after driving Highlander, Explorer, Durango, Pathfinder, and Sequoia. Pilot ticked all our boxes. Though everyone has an opinion, it is silly to say the car is uncomfortable or underpowered or too loud on the freeway as these are only true if compared to a different type vehicle. The Pilot was as or more quiet than all the other vehicles we drove, the seats were as or more comfortable, and accelaeration is completely adequate. This is a very good travel vehicle. But it also does the other jobs well. If you need to use the third seat while stopping by for groceries and then, after while, pick up a load of plywood...well...there are not many SUVs that will do that, be comfortable, quiet, and get reasonable gas mileage. We average 20.7 to work and back and have recieved as high as 25.8 while on a highway only trip. There is no perfect vehicle but this one deserves consideration if your in the market for this type vehicle."

"I think the pilot is a great family suv with lots of room-8 to be exact! I bought the touring model which is loaded and awesome. I know that there are those who dislike the look of the pilot, but I think it is sharp. I have more fun in this than in my previous auto which was a Volvo xc90."

"Everything the reviwes said drives like a dream feels solid- no problems on delivery or the thousands of miles I have driven so far. It doesnt have the aceleration that I had in my sports car but then the fuel economy for an SUV is good."

"Love the comfort, quietness, sturdiness, and spaciousness. Love the minimalistic look with sleek straight lines. Love the convenience features (the large iMid 8" screen, heated seats, backup camera, power lift gate, climate control, a huge center console). Love how my iPhone syncs via bluetooth for phone and music. This is a perfect vehicle for any families of up to 8. It offers the best value/cost ratio. If you are looking for a 3 row SUV, you must test-drive it to experience its value."
