"I traded in my 2000 Elantra with 175,000 miles on it for a new one with 10. The 2000 was a good reliable car. The new one so far with only 1,000 miles is a delight! I am 6'3" and 240lbs, and this is the first car I have owned that I don't have to put the seat all the way back. Plus there is ample head room as well. The car rides like a large car, and the part I like the most is 38 mpg. on the first tank! I drive 33 miles to work and it is mostly rural with little stop and go till the last 5 miles. My third tank is getting 40.1 mpg. and I don't use the stupid "ECO" mode because I don't like how the car performs with the ECO button pushed. To each his own on that. I like the way the interior is laid out with easy access to all the controls. The sound system is good but not great. Only negative is the vision, which of course you are going to lose with the more aerodynamic design, but you get used to it soon. I got the Bronze color which really looks sharp. I have not driven the competitors in this class, but I can't imagine a better ride and gas mileage for the price. Nice job Hyundai!"

Great Ride to Work

"I did extensive researched before even looking at this car. I had recently started a new job in Chicago and the commute was very stressful and painful at the pump. I was looking for some way to make the ride fun and reduce gas costs. The Elantra SE has far exceded my expectations. The 6 speed stick shifts very smoothly and combined with the great handling results in a very pleasant sporty feel to the car...not a rough ride like some. The moon roof is open whenever the weather allows since it's not too noisey as it was in my previous vehicle which remained closed 99% of the time. Fuel mileage is great too: I'm getting 36 city and 42 highway. Another feature I really like are the heated seats...I have some minor back pain and the seats are great therapy. Visibility is even pretty good for such sporty styling. I have only a few, very minor, negatives. The seat is a little low for a 62 year old but the driving experience is worth the effort of getting in and out. I would like to have a rearview camera but it was not an available option with the manual transmission. Bottom line...I love it."

"Very comfortable interior it could be better if it was 2.0 liter engine like Nissan Sentra. A lot of trunk space it can take a family of five on a road trip with comfort. Gas mileage it gives me only 27 mpg locally on premium. So far I drove about 900 miles in 18 days."

Smaller clone of Sonata

"Hyundai started selling stylish cars with lots of bells and whstles for less money than its competitors about 3 years ago when it brought out the restyled Sonata -- which I bought and loved.. The Elantra was re-styled for 2013 and looks and feels almost exactly like its larger brother. It drives smootly, has adequate headroom for a 6-foot-tall driver, a roomy cabin and big trunk for a compact car. It is slightly lighter than the Sonata so it is not quite as solid feeling on the road but it gets great gas mileage, has a 100,000 mile warranty and the little extras such as the voice-activated (hands-free) Bluetooth cell phone system which allows you to make and take phone calls without your eyes leaving the road."

Very Happy

"We upgraded from a 2001 Chevy Prism, and couldn't be happier with this car. It gets slightly better gas mileage than our old car (which also had great gas mileage), and came with a host of very nice features. It is remarkably comfortable: the seats are designed perfectly with great back support. Everything is placed intuitively within the car. The wheel grip is molded to be perfectly comfortable, the climate and other control features are clear, simple to use, and in places comfortable and, again, intuitive to reach. The handling is remarkable. I just took it for an across state road trip in a winter weather advisory and my wife slept the whole way. It seems to know what you want to do before you do it. It seems to respond when you hit pot holes or other traction differentials, like slushy roads. The styling is beautiful. We went with Atlantic Blue, which just shines when the sun hits it. The interior is very stylish with pattern accents on the interior that really make the car stand out. The consol lights up all blue in an elegant, eye-pleasing design that provides all the information you need in easy to see places. Needless to say, we love it. I can't imagine any car beating its value for the price."

"For the money it's a very good car. There is a need however to quiet the ride a little more. The front brakes are noisey when applied a little hard other than that it's a very fine car!!!"

"This car is having a big space, eventhough it looks small when you see it from outside, but the power is not really good, when you drive towards the hill, you can feel the engine really loud.... Overall, its a decent car, nice model, efficient enough."
